We moved our youngest daughter into a proper bed just after her second birthday last year, as this was the first time she had used a single quilt it meant of course she needed bedding and her older sister did NOT want to share!
I went onto the Amazon site as I had some credit on there and bought a duvet cover in Emilys favourite characters Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam. The Fireman Sam duvet comes with the duvet cover and the matching pillow case and cost me just under £12 with free delivery which when you compare to prices in places such as Argos for Character sets it was a really good price.
The duvet covers fits a single duvet so the size is 200cms x 135cms which is the standard size. The duvet came packaged in a see through plastic wrapper which was stuck down at one end of the packet meaning it was very easy to open.
The first time we put the duvet cover on my daughters bed I found it very stiff which I put down to it being new fabric, generally I would have washed it first but as she is only 2 and very impatient she ended up getting it straight on. Once the cover was on the duvet it fitted perfectly and laid flat and smooth on the bed.
The duvet cover is bright blue in colour which I did worry a little about it when it would come to wash it as I expected it would run dreadfully. There are pictures of Fireman Sam running with a hose on the pillowcase which doesn't actually quite match the duvet cover. There are pictures of Fireman Sam stood waving with the words Sam to the rescue on the top half of the cover and pictures of Fireman Sam stood with a hose with the wording Pontypandy Fire Service.
My daughter loved the duvet cover when she saw it and made it very clear she wanted it on her bed, my sister teased her saying it was a boys quilt cover but Emily was happy with it so that's all that matters although from the colours it does look more of a duvet cover for a boy.
The first time I washed the cover I put a colour catcher in with it so that I could see how much the colours run and was surprised to find that it only ran slightly so after the first wash I have put the duvet in with other washing and it has been fine. The duvet cover has softened a lot after washing which is nicer although it does crease quite badly when it has been washed which is a shame as I don't like ironing duvet covers.
I would recommend this duvet cover but would recommend washing it before use as it really does soften it up. My daughter loved the duvet the first time it was on however she has decided she prefers her Peppa Pig cover but I think that is simply because the Peppa one is pink and girly. The duvet holds its colour well and the character is realistic on the duvet and it fits well so it gets 5 stars from us.
