Advantages: keeps them warm no kicked off sheets and blankets
Disadvantages: initially can be an expensive outlay
The gro-bag has been on the market for several years and most companies have since brought out their own version of these baby sleeping bags.
They come in various sizes-
0-6 months
6-18 months
18-36 months
They are available in three tog weights
0.5 tog for very hot weather and holidays abroad
1 tog- for warm houses and the summer months
2.5 tog for most of the year.
Your baby needs to be a minimum weight before going into a gro bag (7lbs)
We have tried both the original grobag and a version by Mamas and Papa's and Mothercare during the 0-6 month stage and so preferred the gro bag version all subsequent ones have been off this make.
The gro bags are based on the idea that the baby can't kick blankets off so cant get cold and wake up. Or end up under the blanket and over heat all of which can be a factor in Cot death hence why we decided to try them.
We started our little one in the gro bag in his moses basket and I think this helped the transition to his cot go a lot smoothly than it may have done. He is cosy in there and associated the gro bag with night and going to sleep and sleeps better as a result. He has only once woken up feeling cold in them and that was this year when we had snow and the room temp dropped to 14c (Not bad for 16 months)
You can buy these on line at places such as Amazon Blooming Marvellous or Bump to3 I would suggest looking out for deals to reduce the cost of them as they do retail at £20-£30 depending on size and weight. We have always bought in either sales and recently bought ones for under £20 via Bump to3 because they were Last season now myself I don't think that matters as the product does the job I don't mind if my boy is in a last season gro bag!
I do think because you use them everyday the provide value for money
Summary: top quality product for your baby a must for every parent
