~*~*~ Linens Limited George Pirate Toddler Bed Set ~*~*~ My son, like a lot of other little boys, adores George Pig. He giggles away at him on the TV or laptop and snorts away like a little pig himself, so when it came to buying him a new bed set I knew I wanted to get him a George Pig set and this is the one I came across on Amazon a few months back. It is only now we have come to use it as the nights have gotten colder and he needs more than the usual thin blankets he has been using. ~ The set ~ This is a lovely little set and matches the large George Pirate fleece we already own, the set comprises of a quilt, pillow and also the covers. It comes wrapped in one large duvet bag with the pictures on the front of the packaging. The quilt is thin and a 3.5 tog but that is fine for my son as I don't want him to overheat in the night. The set fits my sons cot bed perfectly and he loves it. The pillow is small and not too padded which again is good for little ones. The main colour is a lovely shade of blue and it is dotted with lots of pirate George's, dinosaurs and sand castles, it also has some other pirate related pictures too, the pillow case is the same and the pattern is on both sides of the covers. ~ My thoughts ~ With my son only being 2 years old I don't think he would mind either way what cover he had on his bed but I do like to have the beds done nice and he recognised George Pig straight away which was really cute. Having this on his bed made him want to be in his bed and he snuggled under the covers like a good boy as soon as he was put into his cot, he's pretty good in the nights anyway but I think he really liked the novelty of having a quilt rather than his usual blankets. I found the covers fitted the duvet and the pillow well and they looked very cute. As these are for a toddler bed and my son has a cot bed they fitted well but it would be too big for a regular cot. This is a set that will last my son a good while yet as it will still fit his bed when we take the sides off. I have only washed this the once but it washed well at 40°C and tumble dried well too, that is the covers I am referring to and not the actual duvet and pillow. These are not cotton covered duvets just the cheaper type but they are great for little ones. I think I paid around £12 for this set so I really can't complain. I would recommend this. Thanks for reading :o) x
Not long after my sons second birthday-he was ousted out of his cot into a toddler bed. The cot became the new home of his baby sister. Rather than buying loads of new bedding for his new bed, I simply transferred his old sheets, duvets etc over to the toddler bed. Simply because when I bought them for his cot, its similar dimensions to his toddler bed ( the cot converted into a toddle bed also ) so I knew it would fit and also they were still in good condition. With a new baby, and having to fork out for new stuff for her plus having to buy a new bed for my son I simply couldnt stretch moneywise anyway. So when it came to his 3rd birthday, I decided to buy him some new bedding as I had just freshly decorated his room in a nice neutral cream, knowing that at some point his sister was going to join him. And to make it more appealing I had bought some Peppa Pig removable wall stickers to place all around the room ( he was mad on Peppa at the time ) to give more character to it.So when I saw this particular duvet set on sale I had to buy it. What did I get? Exactly the same in regards to the design and picture of the bedding and what it contained, which was a duvet cover and a matching pillowcase. But because I bought a bundle, it also included a 4.0tog duvet and a pillow. This was bought from Kiddicare.com at the price of £22.00 just short of one year ago. The main colour of this set is blue, with the character George Pig all over it , dressed as a pirate. Along with George is his beloved dinosaur and other pictures such as gold coins, skulls, treasure maps, castles. For me the design is more suited for boys, but Im sure alot of girls would love it also. The duvet cover opens and closes at the bottom and is secured by buttons. The material itself isnt the thickest material I have ever seen or felt but still does the job. The set itself washes very well. It hasnt lost any of its colour and hasnt got any thinner so quite good quality. I normally throw it in my dark clothes 40 degree wash, or if theres been accidents or my little boy has been poorly and the set has been soiled in some way I pop it on on a higher wash. Washes really well and my son still enjoys it, although he now would probably prefer it to be now Spiderman? Would I buy again? Yes I would-in fact, Im looking to get my daughter a Peppa Pig duvet set. All pink and girlie. Just need to check on the prices.....
Last year my son turned two and the moment came when we decided he was going to have to make the next step up to a bed. As we only live in a small two bedroom cottage my clever fiancé decided to make some bunk beds that would fit in the smallish back bedroom and so there was room for a cotbed for my youngest son as he was only six months at the time and a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. He made the bunk beds the same size as the cotbed so we could get the cot bed mattresses to fit it. So all I had to find was some big boy bedding to go with it. So I began to wonder where I could get bedding of this size from. After looking around I came across this set. Excellent an all in one set. On arrival the set came in a white plastic bag and needed a bit of straighten out after been coiled up inside it. It instantly went in the washer as it felt stiff and had a strong smell to it from the bag it had been wrapped in. On first inspections it looked ok but the quilt and pillow did look a little flat. This set contains four items, you get the actual quilt and pillow and then a George pig quilt cover and matching pillow case. As previously mentioned the size of this bedding is to fit a cotbed. The quilt measures 120cms by 150cms and the pillow measures 40cms by 60cms. The quilt and pillow is made from 100% Polypropylene and the filling is 100% Hollowfibre. The covers are made from 50% Polyester and 50% Cotton. The quality of the actual pillow and quilt is not the best I have seen and I can see it won't be something that will last a long time but for the amount you pay you can't really complain. The material the quilt and pillow is made from does feel quite cheap and of not high quality. The quilt is 3.5 tog though meaning it is nice and light for your little one to have covering them. The covers to the quilt and pillow are of slightly better quality. They feel nicer to touch and wash great too. I chose this particular set because of the nice light blue cover with George the pig as a pirate and dinosaur on it. It went in my son's pale blue painted room nicely. I didn't want anything to dark looking. I have to admit at the time of purchasing it I was thinking more of the cover and not the quilt that came with it, silly me! After many washes and a year later the quality of the picture on the quilt and pillow cover are still excellent, it hasn't faded. With this part of the set I have been very pleased with. I do think this year I will replace the actual quilt with a better quality one but I can't complain it has done the job. The cover certainly made my son very happy when he saw it and was quite happy to get into his big boy bed. Surprisingly it does keep my son warm even though the quilt feels extremely thin. I brought my set from Amazon like most things I buy!! It cost me £20 and I can easily say it is worth no more and probably a little less. I got what I paid for really. To get a quilt, a pillow, a quilt cover and a pillow case for twenty pound I couldn't expect miracles! The set has done its job and my son has been quite happy with it. I wouldn't recommend this as a permanent thing but for the time being or as quilt set for the grand kid's maybe.
This cotbed size toddler bedset consists of a pillow, pillowcase, duvet and duvet cover. Once my toddler was ready to move from a Grobag to a proper duvet, I started looking at duvets, pillows and bedsets separately, but it quickly became clear that it was going to be fairly expensive. The duvet would be around £15, the pillow £5, and the covers around £15 for a character set (you can get plain bedding cheaper - but really, where's the fun in that?). So I was looking at a minimum of £30 and probably closer to £40. I resigned myself to this and started looking for cheap deals on Peppa Pig bedding. This was how I came across these sets. I paid £22-ish, but I note that they are currently on offer at Amazon for £17.95, which makes them even more of a bargain. The duvet is 3.5 tog, which I have found perfectly adequate even during the recent cold weather, so unless your child's bedroom is particularly cold, you won't need a higher tog for winter. The pillow is nice and soft and not too thin. The covers are 50% cotton, 50% polyester; they are a bit stiff at first, but after you've washed them a couple of times, they soften up nicely. The duvet can be machine washed, it washes well and dries in less than two hours. The pillow is supposed to be handwashed (as if) but I have put it on the handwash cycle of the washing machine and it's been fine after a bit of a wallop (good for stress relief as well!). The sets come in a plastic bag which opens at one end, and it is fairly easy to get them back into it for storage. I mention this because they were such a bargain that I bought two, for only slightly more than it would have cost me for one set if I'd been buying separately. So I now have two complete sets, which has been handy not only in a use-one-wash-one sense, but also for middle of the night bed changes. There are lots of different characters - I have George Pirate and Thomas the Tank Engine, but they also have Peppa Pig (pink), Disney Princess, Tatty Teddy, Toy Story and Disney Cars, so there are plenty to choose from. I don't expect them to last forever, but given that children's duvets and pillows tend to need washing more than most, I would be looking at replacing them soon-ish anyway, so I don't see the point in buying top quality. I would definitely recommend this, it's well-priced for what you get.
