Good quality blankets, available in 2 sizes & 5 colours.

Having no experience of babies & panicking about how to wrap them up at night, I went & bought all manner of bedding...! Everyone of my parents generation kept telling me I needed cellular blankets, so I bought 3 of the cot-bed size blankets at Mama's & Papa's. The reason I bought 3 was that they were on a '3 for 2' offer. M&P cellular blankets are more expensive than other stores such as Mothercare, but on this offer actually worked out cheaper (normal price £15 each, correct @ June 2009). The colours of the M&P blankets vary occasionally, depending on the range of nursery interiors on offer, as all blankets & sheets are made to co-ordinate perfectly (another reason for me to buy my blankets there, since I had purchased the 'Roundabout Boys' interior). The current range offers shades of Blue, Rose, White, Cream & Cheesecake. All colours are available in 2 sizes - Pram/Moses Basket (70cm x 90cm) & Cot/Cot Bed (120cm x 170cm), and are made of 100% cotton. Packaging, as with everything in M&P, is modern & simple, and mainly clear (so you can see EXACTLY what you're buying). At first glance through said packaging, the blankets LOOK better quality than other I've seen. I have washed them several times & they have retained their shape & softness well. I bought both white & blue & can confirm that the blue blankets have stayed a true shade to the rest of the nursery range. However, I have since realised that I didn't really need all this bedding....I am now mainly reliant on the baby sleeping bags - they are much easier & more practical! That said though, a cellular blanket or two, (or 3....!) doesn't go amiss, & buying the larger size means they can also be used in smaller cribs/prams without the need to buy more... Definately a good buy

I bought two of these from Mamas & Papas, and they cost £15 each. They were well packaged and the size they were for was clearly marked on the front. A large section of the front of the packet was transparent so that you could clearly see the exact colour you were purchasing. Despite being more expensive than other cellular blankets, I bought these in lemon to match our Zeddy and Parsnip nursery. The quality is excellent, they wash well and after 7 months are not bobbled at all whereas the Mothercare ones I had for the crib (which were used for a much shorter period of time) looked faded, bobbled and worn fairly quickly. Despite my reservations about being able to find cellular blankets cheaper elsewhere, with hindsight the quality makes them well worth the money they cost. They are lovely and soft on baby's skin and fit extremely well in the cot bed - they are huge and tuck in easily. They are still the same lemon shade they were when they were first washed and have not faded at all. I use them on top of baby's sleeping bag for extra warmth during the winter and on warmer nights used just the cellular blanket without the sleeping bag. The only problem I found is that when baby needed to be swaddled when he was younger, they were far too big to be able to do this and I needed to use smaller crib blankets, so even if you were putting baby straight into a cotbed it would still be worth buying these in a smaller size too for swaddling.
