      Zeddy and parsnip dream pod

A dream pod is best described as a sleeping bag for babies. In my opinion they are a great invention when it comes to keeping a baby warm at night but more importantly safe too. With this bag that basically goes over the shoulders like a vest would and then is a bag effect at the bottom there is no chance of a baby wriggling under sheets or blankets and perhaps overheating or suffocating. Plus, they do not get their feet trapped in the bars of their cots either. When we first created a nursery for our little girl overthrew years ago we went with the Mamas and Papas Zeddy and Parsnip theme so we wanted to buy bedding to match which is why we purchased this dream pod. I still use it to this day with my little boy although this is definitely the last month or situation he will be in it over winter as he's nearly too big for it and I think he is now getting old enough to start introducing a blanket to his cot. However, I just think it goes to show how well made and what good quality it is that it has lasted through two babies and almost daily use, hundreds of washes and a few poo/sick incidents!! The dream pod is the colour lemon yellow and has a Stitched design of Zeddy and Parsnip on the front. As I bought mine over three years ago now I have the old design. It looks like the new one on the Mamas and Papas website has a bit of a different fabric section at the bottom but apart from that they are exactly the same product. The pod is quite padded which I like as it seems lovely and comfortable and whenever my babies have been in this and I have cuddled them its always very cuddly and soft and warm. I feel quite protected knowing they are in this and I think they felt that protection too as this was always a comfortable thing to be wearing and to fall asleep in. The pod has a tog of 2.5. According to an article I read, "A tog measurement is a European warmth rating: the higher the tog, the warmer the product. Baby sleeping bags are available in three tog ratings. A 2.5 Tog Baby Sleep Bag is ideal for the UK climate and for the recommended nursery nursery temperatures of 16°C to 20°C. A Baby Sleep Bag surrounds the baby, providing insulation from both below and above, and also a warm pocket of air around the baby. I generally only use mine in the winter months so from about September to March ish depending on how cold it is outside. The bag has snaps at the shoulder on the straps each side. These straps are thick in width and so fit like a vest would really. Each side has two snaps and I have never had a problem with these coming undone in the night. Then there is a zip around the side and bottom of the bag so you can open it up flat. This is handy when it comes to washing and drying the pod. I never put mine in the dryer, I always open it up after washing and hang it on a radiator to dry. If I wash it in the morning I can have it ready for bedtime again. I found I used this bag in a number of ways. Sometimes when my babies were first born they fell asleep in my arms and so if this happened I got my husband to lay the bag out flat in the cot. I would then place the baby very carefully on top of the bag and then quietly do the zip up around them and then the snappers on the shoulder straps. That way they stayed asleep but were still in the bag. Sometimes though I had the forethought to get their sleep suit on and then place them in this bag before doing nighttime milk and cuddles and so that way they fell asleep already in the bag and then I could just put them down in the cot straight away. Another great thing about this bag was that we could take it with us whenever we went away for the night. That way, we already had our baby's bedding and they had a familiar smell from home. They have always both been really good sleepers so maybe this bag helped in some way to keep them warm and safe. I find the bag really long and roomy, so much so that we are still using the 0-6 month sized one. Its almost too small now for my little boy but it has lasted til he is over one so its very good value for money. Its a bit more expensive than others you can buy. I think this one was in the £25 region but as I have got three years out of it I can't complain. I can't recommend it highly enough.
