A nice item in the Millie and Boris range

This is a review of the Millie and Boris Quilt set we have from Mamas and Papas. I actually got my quilt from an ebay auction so purchased it second hand and immediately put it to the test by washing it.

      Washing
The quilt is padded so not a cover so when you wash it, you have to put the whole lot in. I keep calling it a duvet in my head but it really is a quilt. I have washed this cover several times now and it comes up lovely each time. I am very pleased with the quality of the quilt and the padding inside hasn't shifted or bunched up but remained even throughout the inside of the quilt.

      Description
The quilt is in the traditional cream and beige colours of Mille and Boris and features the bear and rabbit in the middle. As we don't really use it as a cover, more as padding inside the cot, I fold it in three so the bunny and bear are on show. It is 4.0 tog so nice and cosy. The material is part velvety soft material with the bunny and bear embroidered on it and a soft thick beige material which also matches other items in the range. It really is super soft.

      Use
At first, when our daughter was a small baby we used the quilt to reduce the size of the cot as it is a cot bed it was far too long for her. Obviously putting her in the foot to feet of the bed position, I covered the top of the bed (unused part) with the quilt to make it more cosy for her. As she got bigger we have used it as a cover during her daytime naps. She uses a sleeping bag at night time so it is not necessary to cover her with a quilt too as she would get too hot. I have used the quilt more as decoration for the nursery than as a cover to be honest! On the website it advises that the quilt is suitable for 12+ months.

      Size
I am not sure of the exact dimensions of the quilt but it is the perfect size to fit all cot and toddler beds, but smaller than a single duvet size. If any readers need the dimensions, please leave a comment and I will get my tape measure out and update the review by request!

      Price
The quilt comes with a matching pillow slip and costs a whopping £80 on the M&P website. Sometimes it is on offer and you can get around a fiver off. Unfortunately, the Millie and Boris range is so popular it is rarely available in the sales at a big discount.

      My thoughts
I really like this quilt cover in the nursery and feel it is great quality. I am surprised at the price of this item though and don't think I could part with that much for a brand new one. I didn't get the pillow slip so can't comment on the quality of that but it looks nice on the M&P website!

      Final word
As I have mentioned before, it is easy to get carried away when preparing for a baby and I think our first mistake was picking a theme (rather than a colour scheme) for the nursery. I did get a few items second hand but we have paid full price for other items like curtains and lampshade which are premium prices. I really still like the Millie and Boris theme and it will suit a boy or girl so it is quite a sensible one to go with really. The quality of this range is top notch and the quilt lovely to touch. It will last us a few years yet and possibly be handed on to other children in the future.
