      A nice product

When out and about in the sunshine you really do need to think about how best to protect your little one from the heat and rays of the sun. We had a couple of very nice Mothercare Broidery Anglaise sun shades which included a large canopy type set up for the pram and a smaller more compact parasol for the push chair.

Both were very pretty to look at, but very functional too and did a good job at shielding the baby from the heat of the sun. Depending on what your needs are and what type of push chair or pram you choose, Mothercare have a nice range of products which include some Broidery Anglaise items that look really nice.

      **********************************************************
We liked the lovely fresh whiteness of the material. The light stitched embroidered cotton effect, which makes a soft mono-toned pattern all over the material is really pretty. Neither of the items we had were water proof, so we found it best to always be prepared for a summer shower by choosing our pram and push chair with a really nice deep hood.

Both the parasol and the canopy that we bought were able to be washed, with a little thought. The canopy was reasonably easily washed as it could be detached from the pram and then washed by hand over the sink. We couldn't remove the whole frame of the canopy but we still managed to wash it and then place it outside to dry in the sun.

The parasol was very pretty and had a soft frilled effect all the way around it. We had to wash that attached to the parasol and wires as it could not be removed from that at all. It was still easy enough to wash over the sink by hand and then opened out when outside for it to dry in the sun.

      **********************************************************
The canopy fitted to each side of the pram and then could be extended across as it had a series of slim metal bars stitched into the fabric. The plastic and metal mechanism which held the canopy in place was easy to fit onto the body of the pram and held it on very firmly.

Once it was opened up it covered almost the whole length of the pram and meant that it offered really good sun protection. It wasn't made of a thick material so didn't offer any special UV protection of any note, but it did still work very well at keeping the heat of the day away.

      **********************************************************
The parasol was much smaller and only really used when we had the push chair. It was attached to the side of the push chair handle via a plastic fitting that gripped tightly on. I feel that this way of fitting the parasol was not as sturdy as the fittings for the canopy and the parasol fittings did sometimes need to be altered when it worked a little loose.

One thing that you could do with the parasol was to aim it in the direction you wanted as it had a flexible piece on the end. This was a simple and easy to use feature that we liked. The parasol folded down easily and only took a few seconds to put up when we needed it.

      **********************************************************
Mothercare have a nice range of parasols and canopies and there is a similar parasol to the one we had for sale at £17.99. Sadly I cannot see a price for the full sized pram canopy we had.

Broidery Anglaise is such a pretty and fresh looking material and the white colour means that it reflects the suns rays rather than absorbing them. We really liked the products we had and they were not only easy to use and care for but very smart and pretty when in use. Because of this they get a 5 star rating.

I got this Parasol for my oldest daughter and I was SO pleased with it. it was in a clip on holder so you could easily get it on and off without having to take the entire clip on thing off (sorry dont know what to call it) and it made for easy and fast packing away after having been out and about. I was happy with the sun shading it gave though in retrospect a darker colour would have been a better idea. (being a first time mum I only thought about how pretty it looked) also it was easy to move around to the direction where the sun was coming from. However it being white and my daughter being a grub magnet it quickly got dirty and it was impossible to clean. As it was sewn on metal "holders" you could not the get the fabric off to wash so I had to try some dry wash stuff. worked somewhat but a good wash would have made it a lot nicer. Also after a year off usage and being taking on and off the metal holder things on the actual shade became weaker and 2 snapped so we had to buy a new one (this time we got a navy blue one)
