Advantages: Soft material colour doesn't fade fitted sheet fits well
Disadvantages: Unfitted sheet probably not big enough to use as a bottom sheet
The heading of this item refers to cot bed sheets but for this review I will be talking about cot sheets these are exactly the same bar the size and it seemed silly to have two separate headings for different sizes. As the heading doesn't say whether these are fitted or unfitted I will be reviewing both together as we have tried both with our son
About the product
*******************
Mothercare describe these as being made from 100% soft jersey cotton. They claim that they are knitted in such a way to give the material and sheet stretch qualities. The care label states they are machine washable and can be tumble dried and are non-iron.
Opinion

We have used these sheets as only the bottom sheet to cover the mattress and not as a top sheet due to my son using gro-bags to sleep in. The review will reflect this.
We initially bought the unfitted sheets to use in our cot for our son. I can't really recall why we choose unfitted I think the reasoning behind it was that it could then be used as an over sheet if needed. Anyway what ever our reasoning was it was faulty and certainly showed our lack of knowledge of babies and children. The unfitted sheets were used in our Mothercare cot with a Mothercare mattress so I was hopeful that they would fit well. How wrong I was though they certainly covered the top of the mattress getting a reasonable hospital corner on them was impossible. There was certainly only a small amount of material left to go under the mattress to tuck it in. because of this if my son was tossing and turning in the night then the sheet would get pulled and crumpled underneath him. And come loose at the ends of the mattress or the sides. Equally once he started to explore a little in his cot it became great fun once he had spotted a loose end to tug at it and pull the cover completely off the mattress. This became almost a game on some bed times for him to do and needing us to take him in and out to readjust the sheet. This soon came to annoy me because I actually really liked the material and was pleased with how well the sheets washed I went back to Mothercare to buy the same sheets but in a fitted style.
The fitted sheets when put on to our cot mattress fitted ok the material would be stretch across the mattress very tightly and over the corners. All the sides fitted and were covered by material very little material went underneath the mattress and I was worried at first that this would lead to it coming away easily. However I need not have worried as though it is a snug fit the sheet has always remained in place despite a few tugs from my son and him tossing around in the night.
Washing and drying the sheets has been really easy as promised by Mothercare. The sheets have been washed in our household at 40 degrees with Fairy washing powder. The material has stayed nice and soft and cosy. There has been no noticeable fading of the colour of the material for either sheets. The plain unfitted sheets were yellow as they were bought before we knew we had a boy then fitted sheets a pretty light blue and I can honestly say I haven't noticed any changes in the colour of either. Depending on our British weather these have been either hung out on the washing line or tumble dried and this has not effect the material at all they haven't shrunk in any way.
They also appear to be wearing well with no holes or thinning of the material noticeable following being in use for about a year.
The jersey cotton is wonderfully soft and cosy and I only wish I could find some sheets as soft for our bed!
The unfitted sheets haven't been wasted as I have found them to be a good size for use with the travel cot. The same pulling and rumpling do occur but as he is only in the travel cot for a few nights at a time I don't worry too much about it. But he does sometimes wake up with a crease mark on his cheek which takes a while to fade if he has slept on a crease.

Overall and would I recommend
*****************************
I would definitely recommend buying the fitted sheets as they wash well and the colour seems to last. The material is beautifully cosy and warm for little ones. I wouldn't recommend the unfitted sheets to be used as a bottom sheet as I don't think they fit as well as they should and often come away from the mattress in the night and this can lead to crease marks on your child. They may however be great as a top sheet if you are using blankets and sheets instead of Gro-bags as we done. Due to the poor fitting of the unfitting sheets I have marked them down from 5 stars to 4 stars
Summary: A beautifully soft sheet for your baby's cot and cribs that wash very well and don't fade or thin
