The design we have has a large picture of Thomas the tank engine printed on it and track star written in large letters. It is blue in colour and has red stitching detail for a boarder which finishes of the fleece nicely. We also have a different design which has small images of Thomas printed all over it with no1 engine printed alongside it this is also in navy blue but it has green running through it also. They are lovely to look at and the characters are easily recognisable from first site so as soon as my children seen them they knew it was their favourite engine.
The fleece is made of 100% polyester and this makes the fleece very soft to touch and nice to little ones skin. With other character fleeces we have found they tend to be a little thinner than other plain fleece blankets we own but actually with our Thomas fleeces this is not the case they are rather thick and a fair size at 130cm x 170cm they are perfect for lots of things we use ours for snuggling on the sofa watching films, a bed runner for my boys bed and as an extra layer in the winter when it becomes a little colder.
Well of course we brought these fleeces to keep our boys nice and snug and they are fit for that purpose they keep little one nice and warm when they are snuggled up in the fleece and as they are very soft and cuddly we have no objections with the boys keeping them wrapped over them. They also like to lay these out on the floor and pretend to have a picnic on them as well as using them as a cape to fly around my house.
It can be washed on a 40 degree wash and then tumble dried after although I find it dries quick enough hung out to dry so hardly tumble dry it if possible. We found that after many washes the colour is still as bright as when we first purchased it I always run new bedding through a separate wash by themselves first time in case the colour runs but after this I can confirm the colour has not ran in any wash. The fleece comes out so lovely and soft just like brand new and it holds its shape well with no shrinking pulling nagging or any lack in quality at all.
Of course like all character ranges there are many different variations of these fleeces available we have 2 different designs at home and both are made of great quality they usually retail for around £5 and we picked ours up from Asda but they are widely available. I would recommend these to anyone with a Thomas the tank engine mad child as they are both fun yet practical and they really are great value.
We love this fleece it is a little bigger than other character fleeces we have and they really are fantastic quality. We have had this for a few years now and there has been no decline of quality at all and we have used it on numerous occasions. It matches my sons Thomas themed room and ties in well with other Thomas products while adding some colour to the room and delighting my son each and every time he sees it.
Character World produce quite a few different Thomas blankets.
Current designs include 'Thomas Express', 'Full Steam Ahead' and 'Track Star'. Each blanket is made from 100% polyester and measures approx 120 x 150cm. The packaging for the fleece is minimal - it is simply rolled up with a cardboard sleeve around the middle.
Each blanket features a character design from Thomas the Tank and it is mainly Thomas who features on the various blankets. The blankets feature different colours and images as well as wording. These blankets can be washed on a 40c wash.
These blankets are widely available. Wilkinsons stock them at £8.00. Amazon stock various Thomas blankets for between £7.50 and £10.50 depending on design.
When our son started taking an interest in Thomas the Tank, we went out to buy various bits and pieces for his room. I bought the 'Full Steam Ahead' fleece blanket from Wilkos at the time but they now stock a different design. My Dad added to our collection by buying us the 'Track Star' blanket. I intend of purchasing the newest design as well as we have nothing but praise for these blankets.
Regardless of which blanket is purchased, the design fits in with our sons bedroom. He has white walls and all of his accessories are Thomas (including his bed!). These fleeces are of a high quality and are versatile. My son isn't too keen on his duvet when it is quite warm at night and much rather prefers his fleece blanket over him. The blankets are also perfect for when he wishes to snuggle up on the sofa with a DVD.
The blankets are a good size and a lot bigger than some childrens blankets I have seen. They cover his full bed (which is a cross between a toddler and a single bed) and tuck neatly down the sides. The blankets are quite thick and have a lovely, soft material which my son tells me if cosy and keeps him warm. I have used these for keeping cosy on the sofa once or twice and whilst they aren't sized for myself, they do cover my bottom half well and I found them to be warm too.
The two fleeces we own are quite different in design and soley features Thomas himself. My son prefers the 'Full Steam Ahead' blanket. This blanket mainly blue with green dots. It features a huge, smirking Thomas with steam billowing out from his funnel. A large speech bubble states 'Full Steam Ahead'. I personally find this one a little dull but it isn't me who takes it to bed!
The 'Track Star' blanket is bright blue and I like this one the best. It features Thomas smiling within a large star and the words 'Track Star' written around it. Both designs are simple but attractive to a toddler who may adore Thomas the Tank. It does seem quite difficult to get designs which feature the other trains like shown in the picture above. My son doesn't mind though as he mainly likes Thomas!
Both blankets have colour and pictures on either side but the writing is only transferred on one side and appears in reverse on the other side. The detailing on each blanket is good and the stitching is of a good quality too.
These blankets are lovely to look at and really brighten up a room. They keep my son warm without overheating him. I wash them regularly and they come up great. We have owned both our blankets for around 2 years and they have only recently started to go a little bobbly. The colours haven't faded much but they don't look as fresh as they did when we bought them.
All in all, both myself and my son can recommend these blankets. They are priced well and are a must for any Thomas fan!.The fold down neatly as well and can be taken to a relatives home easily which my son does when he stays over at his Grans home.
