Having used several Mei Tai slings I bought this sling when my baby was 9 months old. I wanted a hip sling for when I was cooking or working around the house. I had tried to use a non buckle Mei Tai in the hip position but didn't have much luck.

This sling uses the standard Mei Tai decision. The only difference is with the straps. There is a buckle attachment for the waist strap and the over shoulder straps.

The first few times I used the sling it took several adjustments before my baby was seated comfortably. I struggled somewhat when trying to clip the shoulder buckles by myself. It was difficult to reach around as the straps are fairly short. With practise it got easier. After wearing for a few minutes I would need to adjust again as baby would be slipping. The shoulder strap restricted my arm movement and pressed uncomfortably on my shoulder.

Once my little one reached 12 months it became too difficult to put her into the hip Mei Tai. At the same age I had no problem using the standard front/back Mei Tai style. I reverted to using our ordinary Mei Tai in a back carry when cooking and working around the house.

This Mei Tai comes in a good selection of contemporary fabrics and washes well.

Summary: Will work if you like buckle slings, won't if you want a sling you don't have to adjust when on
