I am a parent of twins and needed a sling to enable me to have the option of using a single pushchair and sling instead of the tandem. The Kari-Me is a single piece of fabric which is wrapped around the body and tied in one basic way. Once on, this is then adapted to carry a baby in four different ways. It can also be used to carry older children on your back- it is suitable for children up to 15kg. Although it is initially tricky to put on correctly, after a couple of goes, it really is very easy. I live in an upstairs flat and therefore find it quite difficult to lug our heavy pushchair up and down the stairs constantly, so we made the decision quite quickly to buy a sling to make getting about with our baby easier. There are a number of slings available on the market, but none of the ones that we saw really appealed as we didn't like how they looked overly manufactured. Having first discovered the concept of "kangeroo care" while working in neonatal intensive care, I was keen to adopt this approach when we had our daughter in May 08. The kari-me sling has allowed us to do that with ease! I found this sling in particular through talking to other mums, the first one who introduced me to it said she'd gone through 7 others before finding this one and wished she'd found it sooner! The sling is a long piece of soft stretchy fabric which you wrap around you. It does look quite confusing at first but once you have put it on a few times you can do it really easily!
