a great hands free way to carry baby.

My first daughter was a very fussy clingy baby and putting her in a pram in the early days just wasn't an option. Seeing the trouble we had my mum recommended we try a baby carrier for her, it was a god send for us.

We bought the mothercare 2 position baby carrier from a small mothercare store for around £25 as it was on sale at the time. I was really pleased with the price as the other carriers they had were alot more expensive and looked exactly the same as this one. When we bought it they had it available in either black or red, we bought the red one.
After purchasing the lady at mothercare was really helpful in showing me how to you as at first all the different straps can be pretty confusing!

To put the carrier on you have 3 clips to undo. 2 on each side that are attached to the 2 back straps creating an 'x' shape across your back. The other clip is for the waist strap. You slip the back straps over your head and position the cross between your shoulder blades. You then pull the straps round to the front then click in by your waist. Next you pull the waist strap around and click into place. All the straps are fully adjustable to get the perfect fit for you. The shoulders and waist have a really thick padded section to prevent any rubbing which I found to work really well.

      Putting baby in-
The carrier is suitable for babies from 3.5kg to 10kg.
At first it took someone else to help me put baby in until I was confident enough on how to do it by myself.
There are 4 small clips on the part for baby, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. To put baby in you unclip all 4. You position baby in either forward (for older babies) or parent facing (for younger babies) then pull the fabric up and clip in the two bottom clips with baby's legs through the legs holes then do the same around baby's arms. Again all 4 clips are totally adjustable to create a snug fit for baby. You have to pull it fairly tight to make sure baby's head is supported especially when they're tiny. I then adjust all my back straps too to make sure baby is position high enough on me that we are both comfortable.

The section for baby is nice and padded and also comes with a white fabric section that attaches with poppers to create protection for your clothes from any spit up/sick. I found this really useful especially as my first daughter had acid reflux.
The position of baby like this is extremely comforting for both baby and mother and I found it helpful for bonding too. It was a great way for my husband to bond too having her so close
If my little girl was fussy I'd put her in this and she'd instantly settle and usually fall asleep. As she got bigger she loved that she could look out but still have the comfort of me being there.
You have a pretty good range of movement whilst wearing the carrier so its really helpful if you have a fussy baby and other children to look after too as you are hands free. However you do have to support baby's back when bending down.

I would definitely recommend this to any parent. Its not expensive and is really nice quality. It does take a few goes to get the hang of putting it on and taking it off but once you have the hang of it its pretty easy and comfy to wear.
