I bought the Peanut shell pouch when I was pregnant with my daughter and I was in love with the idea of it.
The packaging is great - a clear plastic bag, with poppers, with the instructions and information leaflet visible. There is a sizing guide on the bag, which was very helpful, showing possible t-shirt sizes or a description such as 'L - tall & average or short and full possible t-shirt size L - XL'.
I chose the chocolate brown background with turquoise circle pattern and was very happy with my choice. The product is very simple in design, in essence a double sided (reversible) tube like piece of fabric, with a padded thin section on the bottom edge and a small pocket, which is a nice touch. The fabric is machine washable, and hard wearing, with strong, secure stitching.
Practically speaking, I found that my newborn daughter was too long and my frame too thin, meaning that once she was in it lying down her legs were pulled into the contour of my body and were bending around to my side, meaning that she was never happy in it. I was very disappointed, but recognised that she hated being swaddled (or even lots of close cuddles), so perhaps it wasn't the product for her. I also recognise that perhaps I would have been better off buying the next size up, giving her more space.
Whilst carrying her in it, she was safe, secure and nice and warm. The design of the sling leaves you feeling confident that your child is safe and will not slip out of it. I was so disappointed that the sling did not work for us, however, that is not the fault of the product, moreover a poor sizing choice by me and a grumbly child who did not enjoy close comfort - not something you cannot predict.
Having said this, the sling came into it's own when my daughter was a few months old and could support her head and I could carry her in the sling, sitting upright on my hip, using the sling as a sort of seat. This clearly was extremely comfortable for her, and fantastic for me as my weak arms were clearly still adjusting to carrying a child around all the time! We used it in this fashion for months, and it was a great relief as a I suffer from a bad back, meaning the extra support from the sling was welcome.
The instructions show the five carrying positions and also a website is address shown, should you need to refer to it. I only used the hip sling style, but was very happy with it. I think that I paid £35.00 for the sling, but more than got my money's worth from it.
Your baby will feel cradled and snug in this pouch. This sling can be worn in five different ways from birth to 35 Ibs.
