I used this carrier for a day on loan. While is is much better than the Mothercare carrier, I found it lacking when compared with the Baby Bjorn carrier, and as they are both the same price, I would not choose the Tomy one. It is quite comfortable and fairly secure, but I didn't feel that my son's head was properly secure and supported and it also swayed as I walked.... The straps are nicely padded and again comfortable, but they were a bit uncomfortable and I found I had to shift them slightly every once in a while to stop them from rubbing.... Ive been using this carrier since Ethan was two weeks old, and we both love it, Ive only used it in the 'facing mum' position and am looking forward to trying it facing outwards when Ethan is old enough. The straps cross over on your back and are padded, which I find very comfatable. Its also easy to get Ethan in and out of it on my own. I bought my TOMY SAFARI baby carrier after trying it out at the Prima Baby show (August 2000). They were loaning out brand new carriers out I thought that I'd just try one for size, in the end, it was so good and comfortable that I bought it! (They were selling them for half price too, £15 & not £30!) Previously, I had struggled for months with a Mothercare Turnabout Carrier, which was awful. I had bought the Mothercare carrier because I was on a low budget at the time and I thought that all carriers are the same (big mistake!)
