Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan
by k2705
For Christmas Jayden received a lot of clothes as presents, one item he received was the Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan, he has quite a lot of Mothercare clothing and I have always been pleased with the quality of it, this cardigan is ideal for the cold weather as it is thicker than a regular cardigan and can be worn as a jacket to keep ... you baby warm and cosy.
The Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan is a bit of a cross between a jacket and a cardigan, it has a classic cable knit style to it which gives it a really cosy look, it has a slightly turned over collar which has a ribbed effect around the cuffs and the bottom of the cardigan and two small rounded pockets on the front, these also have the same ribbed effect along the top of them.
The cardigan as the name suggests is navy which also has a lighter blue fleck in it, it fastens down the front with 3 chunky navy blue toggles, these slot into button holes on the opposite site, personally I like these large toggle buttons as they are unlikely to come off and if they do they are not so small that Jayden could put them in his mouth and swallow them.
This item is made from 100% cotton which gives it a lovely soft feel to touch which also makes the cardigan lovely and cosy for your baby to wear, the softness of this item also makes it extremely comfortable to wear. This item is machine washable which when it comes to Jayden's clothes is important, I like his clothes to be easy to care for and not require any special treatment, he very rarely wears things more than once before he has got it dirty so when it comes to his clothes it is important that they wash well. I never put this item in the tumble dryer as it is likely to shrink, however despite the chunky fabric it is made from it does dry reasonably quickly.
Since Jayden received his Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan it has had a lot of wear and been washed on several occasions and so far it really does look as good as new, the fabric hasn't bobbled at all and it has not lost it shape.
Obviously this item is from Mothercare as it is one of their own brand products, this cardigan is sold for £11.50 which personally I think is very reasonably, it is of an excellent quality and finished to a high standard. Jayden has had a lot of wear out of his so far, it is very versatile making it worth the money.
The Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan comes in a range of sizes including
* 3 - 6 Months
* 6 - 9 Months
* 9 - 12 Months
* 12 - 18 Months
* 18 - 24 Months
* 2 - 3 Years
Jayden's cardigan is size 9 - 12 Months, he is almost 9 months and this is an ideal size for him, the cardigan is a little bit on the big side for him, but not so big he cannot wear it, I do have to turn the sleeves up a bit for him, however this means that it will last him as he has got a bit of room to grow.
Overall I have been extremely pleased with Jayden's Mothercare Navy Cable Cardigan, it goes with most outfits it really is very versatile, it goes with a smart outfit or something more casual. The cardigan as I have said is reasonably priced and definitely worth the money. The cardigan is lovely and thick and really does keep Jayden warm, it can comfortably be layered with other tops and the slightly looser fit means that your baby will not feel too bulky and uncomfortable. This is definitely a item I would recommend, it is an ideal item to keep your little boy warm and cosy through the winter months. Read the complete review |

Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat
by k2705
At the moment me and my husband are gradually stocking up on some winter clothes for Jayden including some new winter hats to go with his new outfits. I was shopping in Mothercare recently and was having a look at the different accessories when I spotted the Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat, to start with I was draw to it by the cute design ... of it but when I realised it was a perfect match to one of Jayden's jackets I just had to get it.
The Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat does not come with any sort of packaging, just a small plastic hook with a sticker on it displaying the Mothercare logo and the size of the hat, further information about the product can be found on a small fabric label inside the hat.
The hat is quite a simple design, it is a rectangle shape with a strap either side which come down over your baby's ears and can be fastened under their chin with a small piece of velcro should you wish, the velcro is designed especially for baby's and feels soft to touch, so much so that I wondered if the two sides would actually stick together, however they did easily, I think the extra smooth velcro is designed not to scratch your baby's skin which could happed with regular velcro which can be quite rough, on each corner of the hat are a small bunch of tassels made from fleece material, the inside of the hat is also made from this same fabric.
The outside of the hat is obviously stripy and is made up of navy, red, white and a slightly lighter blue stripes, this is also repeated on the two straps, the tassels are in red and navy and the inside of the hat and the inside of the two straps are plain red, the colour combination means that the hat does go with a lot of different outfits that Jayden has making it very versatile.
The Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat is made from 100% polyester, it is extremely soft and will keep your baby lovely and warm, whilst the fabric is designed for warmth it is not too thick and bulky so it will be comfortable for them to wear.
When it comes to clothes and accessories for Jayden it is important that they wash well and are easy to care for as normally by then end of the day the item needs washing as he has managed to get dirty, this item can simply be put in a regular 30 to 40 degree wash with items of a similar colour. However it does state that you should not bleach or tumble dry the hat and it cannot be dry cleaned, it also states that it should be ironed on a low heat setting, personally I cannot see why you would need to iron this item at all and have not done so myself.
There are one or two warnings that come printed on the label inside the hat, these include
* Always remove hats when indoors
* Always remove hats when in cots or cribs
Obviously this item is only available from Mothercare as it is one of their own brand products, this hat cost just £4.00, personally I feel this is excellent value for money, the hat is very versatile and will go with a variety of outfits. Although it is not even winter yet Jayden has had quite a lot of use out of his during the cooler weather we have been having, we have also taken a trip to the seaside where it was sunny but cold and windy, the hat kept him lovely and warm so in my opinion it has certainly been well worth the money.
The Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat comes in a variety of sizes including
* 0 - 3 Months
* 3 - 6 Months
* 6 - 12 Months
* 12 - 24 Months
* 24 - 36 Months
Overall I would highly recommend the Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat, it is an extremely versatile hat which can be worn for most occasions. I particularly like the soft fleece material that the hat is made from, it is thick enough to keep Jayden warm, but is not so thick and bulky that it gets in his way when he is laying in his pushchair, he can comfortably wear this when he is laying back having a nap whilst out and about or while sitting up.
The hat comes in a wide range of sizes making it ideal for babies of all ages, we chose the hat in 6 to 12 Months, Jayden is 5 months old at the moment but we wanted this hat to last him through the winter so opted for a slightly larger size so that he had a bit of room to grow, the hat is a bit large on him but the style of the hat with its slightly floppy top hides the fact that it is a bit on the big side and it looks like it fits perfectly.
In my opinion the hat really was a bargain at just £4.00, we have already had a lot of wear out of the hat and will continue to do so throughout the winter. I love the cute design of this hat and Jayden looks lovely in it, the style is modern yet perfect for a baby, you can either have the straps done up under your baby's chin or just hanging down either side, at the moment we just leave the straps undone however as the weather gets colder I will probably start to do them up to keep the hat pulled around Jayden's ears. I have been extremely pleased with the Mothercare Striped Fleece Hat, I would highly recommend this item and would definitely purchase another should they bring them out in different colour combinations.
