Adidas Minnie Mouse Toddler Trainers
Advantages: Look great, easy to keep clean thanks to PVC upper, comfortable and well cushioned
I bought these stunning Adidas trainers for my youngest daughter in The Disney Store for her third birthday back in June. I hadn't actually gone into the shop for trainers, but we spotted them at the exact same time and when I saw how much Hollie loved them I had to buy her a pair.
They are a gorgeous pair of trainers, easily the prettiest and most attractive Hollie has ever owned. They are made with a PVC finish, over which the traditional Adidas stripes have been stitched. There is an embroidered Minnie Mouse on the outside edge of each shoe, which my daughter loves but I'm not so sure about as they've put Minnie in a red dress which blends so well with the body of the trainer that to me it looks like a disembodied head and legs!
As these are Adidas, you can be sure they are going to be of excellent quality. The sizing is completely accurate and I'm impressed with the shape of the toe line. Recently nearly all the trainers I've seen for young girls have a very wide toe, I don't like this design personally and think it looks uncomfortable for the child. These are shaped to be the same sort of fit as I'd expect from an woman's style trainer, with a slim toe but given the appearance of width by both a well shaped instep and jutting rubber sole.
The trainers are nicely cushioned, the insole is a soft and thick foam which hasn't flattened out or deteriorated over the months my daughter has been wearing them. It fits snug inside the shoe but can be pulled out for cleaning, something which is very straight forward to do and getting the sole back in again is no problem. The back heel is cushioned with a strip of Adidas embossed white leather, this softens the backs of the trainers and Hollie never once complained about the stiffness of them while new.
She's always seemed very comfortable in them and loves the Velcro straps. The past four pairs of trainers she's owned have had laces, which I think is much more attractive but very frustrating for a wannabe 'Independent Woman' who might be bright but definitely isn't at the lace-tying stage yet! These trainers feature two Velcro straps which are supple and easy to use, the Velcro is much stronger than that you'd find on cheaper trainers and I also felt the straps were very smooth to pull through the eyelets.
These trainers are waterproof, thanks to an extremely high quality sole and the PVC upper. Splashing in puddles is fine as there's absolutely nowhere for the water to get into the shoe, obviously if they wade in water higher than the shoe they'll get wet feet but this isn't the fault of Adidas, is it? For me the beauty of these trainers is that they will wipe clean much easier than the textured leather and/or plastic trainers that are usually available for young girls. A damp cloth or even a baby wipe is all you need to get them looking clean again, even the Adidas stripes are shiner than usual so these don't become grubby and spoil the look either.
The wavy grips on the bottom of the trainers are great, they're not particularly deep or wide but I get the impression they will definitely hold their own now the morning frost is coming. They've kept their shape over the months and looking at one right now I can tell you they will clean up and then the trainers will look brand new again.
It's a shame Hollie's feet are growing so quickly, she almost needs the next size up as these are starting to get a bit tight. The shame is that the trainers still look so good and I'd love her to be able to carry on wearing them, I'm thinking of purchasing the same shoes in the next size for her and that should tell you how good these are as I very rarely do that. Life's so short, and there are so many shoes to choose from after all!
£22 from The Disney Store.
Summary: A beautiful pair of young girl's trainers, which won't have your daughter looking like a chav!
