“ Brand: Clarks / Type: Shoes „
When the first of my twins took her first steps a visit to Clarks followed shortly. I wanted shoes that were fitted properly around her delicate little feet and I've only ever heard good things about Clarks regarding quality shoes and trained fitters.
When we went into our local Clarks the sales assistant measured my daughters feet at a 3F, as she had only just started walking we were advised that their range of cruising shoes would be more suitable and this Ida Chic shoe in Raspberry caught my eye. As we had never had much success in getting pram shoes to stay on her feet we weren't sure how she was going to take to proper shoes. These leather shoes with a rubber sole are really light and she loved them as soon as they were on. The inside material is soft to the touch making them comfortable on little feet.
They have a velcro strap as a fastening which makes them quick and easy to get on, however after a while little fingers couldn't resist playing with these and I spent a lot of time sticking them back down.
The flower design on this pretty pink shoes is lovely and as her first pair of shoes they are neatly stored away now she has grown out of them.
As these were my daughters first shoes Clarks took a photo of her in them which is a nice additional keepsake.
Price and availability
This shoe is still available from Clarks but not in the Raspberry colour, you can still get this colour from ebay though. I think I paid £24 for these shoes which although expensive I feel they were worth it. The shoes are available in a range of sizes including half sizes and different width fittings.
Would I recommend?
Yes, the shoes were good quality and wore really well for the couple of months she had them. Little feet grow quickly and before you know it you're back buying another pair!
When it comes to my daughter's shoes I will only buy from Clarks simply because I want her feet to grow correctly and be adequately protected. I grew up in Clarks shoes and now my daughter is doing the same. I find that Clarks shoes are always well made and yes for something so small they are a little expensive but I'm more than happy to pay the price with knowing my daughter's feet are well looked after.
My daughter finally reached a size 3 in shoes about 6 weeks ago (she was 2 in October) and happens to have an F width fitting. Trying to buy shoes in my local Clarks in a 3F can be a bit of a nightmare so when I went online and found the shoes I could buy in her size I opted for the Clarks Ida Chic in raspberry coloured leather. They also come in anthracite leather (purple/grey type colour) but I found the raspberry leather would go with more of her clothes.
Clarks Ida Chic are from their First Shoes range and perfect for those children who are cruising. Now my daughter has been walking for a while but due to having such small feet for her age we have to make do with cruisers which do support her feet whilst walking and the sales assistant at Clarks said it shouldn't be a problem.
Ida Chic are made from a lovely soft leather which features a T-Bar strap which fastens on velcro making them incredibly secure once fastened. There are lovely stitched and appliqued flowers which add a little bit of detail to the shoes as without this they would be rather plain. They have a padded strip which goes around the back of the heel to give a little support which is nice and soft. They have a rubber sole which is textured with little raised circles but seems incredibly durable. The inside of the shoe is cream in colour and does seem quite padded which is good for a little person's feet.
My daughter has been wearing these shoes for a few weeks now and it is for me a relief that they fit her correctly and won't affect her feet. The leather is lovely and soft and was the moment I took them out of the box making them ideal for children's feet. My daughter does have incredibly narrow and petite feet and I find that I have to have the velcro strap quite tight to keep them secure and these straps manage just fine.
Her feet are not loose in the shoes and the velcro strap manages to keep her feet nice and secure. Best of all when she walks her ankle doesn't slip up at the back, they manage to give a secure but snug fit. I am well aware my daughter will out grow these shortly and won't hesitate to buy another pair should Clarks still have them for sale as they fit her wonderfully. She hasn't complained that they hurt or are uncomfortable and when I take them off I can't see any rub marks so I'm hoping she finds them comfortable.
Overall, I am quite happy paying the nearly £25.00 price tag given the fact that they suit my daughter's narrow feet and despite being worn constantly the rubber sole has remained incredibly durable and hardly shows any sign of wear whatsoever. The leather has also lived up well and is in near perfect condition. I really have no complaints about these shoes and would recommend them to any parent wanting a pair of shoes for their little girl.
