When it comes to my daughter's feet I take her shoes very seriously. As soon as she took her first steps and then became a confident walker she has been going to Clarks to have her shoes fitted. She goes every 8 weeks to get them measured. As a child myself I always had Clarks shoes and my mother had instilled it in all of her children that this was absolutely vital to ensure we had good feet by having properly measured and fitted shoes. Therefore, all the grandchildren (my nieces and nephews) all seem to wear Clarks.
In my last trip to Clarks my daughter had gone up another size so I made sure we bought at least two pairs of shoes whilst we were in store. Despite being nearly 23 months old my daughter is very petite and only has a size 3 and has the slimest fitting being an 'F' and I find in my local Clarks a 3F seems to be a rareity but we seemed to strike lucky with a pair called 'Ida Glam'. They come in either pink or purple but the only choice was pink which is the version I opted for.
Clarks Ida Glam is a part of the First Shoes range and are still currently available at Clarks from size 2 to 5 and in fittings F to H. The shoes themselves are made from incredibly soft leather which is pink colour, Clarks class it has a hot pink but it much softer and more of a candy pink. However, it does have a bright pink or hot pink rubber sole which compliments the candy pink leather. The rubber sole is incredibly soft and flexible and features little round textures circles to give a little grip.
The shoes design is pretty simple but cute. The leather is matt colour and features a very pale pink almost white embroidered flower right at the front of the shoe. A very simple design but personally I find that these shoes are incredibly pretty and suit most of my daughter's clothes - I'm OCD with colours matching for my own clothes and shoes and it doesn't stop with my daughter's clothes and shoes! There is a simple adjustable strap together with padded area around the shoe which gives comfort around the ankle area - both these items are patent in finish and are slightly brighter in pink compared to the leather.
The inside of the shoes are lovely and padded and are complete with a cream lining which also features the size and width fitting of the shoes. The front of the shoes are slightly rounded and wide but they do have protective toes which are quite a rubbery material and these help to protect the feet especially when little ones do fall down or scuff their shoes when first learning to walk properly. At the end of the day Clarks design all of their shoes to protect and care for a child's feet and these are no different.
Because these have been fitted to my daughter I find that they fit perfectly. Snug but with a little wiggle room for her which is great. However, the one gripe I have which is very minor is that the adjustable strap isn't overly long and if your child has very slim feet and need the strap as tight as it can go these shoes can end up being a little loose but this won't happen with every child it is simply just something I have noticed. Other than that I cannot find fault with these shoes.
My daughter wears these shoes with no problems whatsoever. They are incredibly lightweight to hold and my daughter will happily put them on (with a little help). They have never rubbed or caused any irritation that I can notice on my daughter's feet. My daughter wouldn't wear them if she found them uncomfortable so I am more than satisfied that she is comfortable. She has had the shoes for a while now and has worn them quite a lot and fortunately they are still in great condition, the leather hasn't marked or scuffed which I am pretty pleased with especially for a pair of shoes which suffer quite a lot abuse from a little person!
I really have no complaints about these First Shoes from Clarks. The design is minimal yet incredibly cute. They fit my daughter well and she has plenty of growing room in them. I do think it is vital that you have Clarks shoes fitted by Clarks as it is essential your child's feet are properly cared for. These are a great pair of shoes and I would recommend them to any parent wanting a pair of shoes for a little girl.
