My daughter is now 3 years old, and before she never used to really wear a dressing gown as strangely enough she somehow was always warm! However, one of my lovely friends got her this Minnie Mouse dressing gown for Christmas and since she has loved prancing around in it thinking she is Minnie Mouse and especially recently with the cold spells of weather we have had it has been her favourite garment to put on as soon as we get in the house!
The gown is made from really thick material which the label explains it is made from 100% polyester. Even with this knowledge it is really soft and plush to touch, so when wearing it I can see she feels really snug and cosy and it feels great quality. I have washed it only once so far in the washing machine but it still feels the same genuine soft snuggly material.
The design of the gown is a vibrant red colour, covered in white heart shapes all over which make it really girly and cute. There are two pockets on either side, so my daughter can carry her trinkets and toys around with her, and on the left pocket there is a cute minnie mouse signature which makes the gown look really authentic. There is also a small picture on Minnie mouse on the right hand side of the chest part.
There is a part to the gown which allows it to be tied around the waist, but it is literally sewn on, and then at the opening it is free so there is no possibility of this coming off the gown. I personally wish my dressing gown had this feature too as she likes taking my tie part to the gown off and thinking it is a "belt" or a lead for her toy teddy bears like she is walking a dog which is really annoying!
The cutest feature of this dressing gown are the black ears on the hood which when she has it up is soooo cute and she really does look like Minnie Mouse! The ears are made of what feels like a more velvety black fabric and when the hood is up they are rigid so actually stick up and don't flop down pathetically.
The label on this gown is 3-4 years and my daughter is 3 and a half and this fits her perfectly. I believe my friend bought it from Boots and on the website it costs £15. It is a bit more than I'd most likely spend on a dressing gown, but now my daughter has it she absolutely loves it, so it has been a brilliant Christmas present she is getting so much use out of.
It is easy to take care of as it the label shows it can be washed in the washing machine, up to 40 degrees, and is fine to be ironed as long as it's inside out (although I am not sure why you would want to iron it!) but it is not suitable for the tumble dryer which is fine by us as we are not so lucky to have space for a tumble dryer in our flat.
Overall, this dressing gown gets a big 5 stars from me and my daughter as it keeps her warm, looks really cute is sooo soft, snuggly and comfortable and my daughter hardly wants to take it off! With this in mind, we definitely recommend it for any girly girls who like minnie mouse and want a new dressing gown :)
My five year old loves anything disney, be it snow white, bambi, mickey mouse. She demands to watch at least one disney cartoon a day....yes demands!! And we all know what happens if a five year olds demands are not met....utter chaos!
She actually owns a lot of disney clothing and when I had a proper look earlier I shocked myself. T shirts, pyjamas, wellington boots, you name it! Even her new school bag is the little mermaid (apparently winnie the pooh was for babies, so her little brother got lumped with that bag.
As I do every christmas, I purchase new nightwear for the kids and ourselves for christmas eve. New pyjames, slippers and dressing gowns. Its the little things...! So while browsing on ebay for ideas I came across a pink minnie the mouse dressing gown. I liked the idea of minnie the mouse as it is very girly and I know Sophie would love it. But I didn't really like this particular one. Didn't have the wow factor. (Never thought I'd hear myself say that about my five year olds clothing but there you go). So off I set to search out other minnie the mouse pyjamas and dressing gowns.
I trawled through ebay and amazon to no avail, when a friend told me to try disneystore.co.uk. Bingo! I came across this black and white polka dotted robe for £24.00 plus delivery. I didn't have an account with this website so immediately set one up, which took all of five minutes. Size wise there weren't many options, from 12-18 months up to 5-6 (which was actually out of stock). I went for the 3-4 years as Sophie is quite small in build anyway and I usually get this size. They promised delivery in five working days so obviously I forgot completely about it by then.....
It was delivered in 4 days which I thought was great as usually companies like that can take up to ten days. I always have problems with amazon deliveries so got a nice surprise. Somebody else though, got an even bigger surprise...
I gave it to Sophie straight away to try out and see if it fit etc. I took it out of the plastic to find it looked exactly as it had in the picture, althoug quite small. It was white with black polka dots, and pictures of minnie scattered throughout. The hood was attahced to it with a red bow placed on top, just like Minnie herself. It had a bright yellow tie around the middle which relly stood out and looked great on it. I hadn't seen this in the picture so it was a nice surprise. It has two pockets with a flower sewed on each. Great for storing a little girls essentials you know :).
It is apparently 100% cotton and is extremely soft and fleecy to touch. The sleeves are long and baggy and the gown comes to Sophies thighs. It was slightly small on her but not noticeably small, she may grow out of it quickly. She didn't take it off for about a week so when I did wash it I made sure to put it in a delicate spin in case it shrunk.
I love the gown. Its soft, warm and looks great on her. The only downfalls would be the price and the size. At £24.99 it isnt cheap. But as disney clothing goes, it is fairly reasonable. It is slightly small on her but I did get the 3-4 size, and she is 5. She usually gets these sizes but I would buy bigger so that the child wont grow out of it quickly and you get your moneys worth! It washes well, hasnt shrunk but is definitely not as soft as it once was.
She absolutely adores it. She wears the hood up so the bow will sit upon her head, 'just like minnie'. If she is cold during the day, on goes the robe. She wanted to wear it to school one day but I had to draw the line. Overall a great purchase because she is so happy with it and thats all that counts at the end of the day.
For christmas me and my partner normally buy both my children dressing gowns, slippers and pajarmas but this year chose not to because so many people was asking what to buy them and it was easier to spread the items out for family members to buy.
My mother in law brought this for my daughter but in red with white spots and i must admit it is very very soft. My daughter loves anything that she an cuddle into and this is perfect for her, especially since the nights are cold as well as the mornings.
The dressing gown itself has an attached hood that has the bow on top, it looks really cute when the hood is up. It also has 2 pockets on either side of the dressing gown and you tie it by the sash that is connected to the dressing gown itself. This is a massive help because my children used to take them off and lose the sashes prettly much redeeming the dressing gown useless. There is also a press stud at the top of the dressing gown, near the childs neck which is easily popped open if the child doesnt want it closed.
On the right side there is a picture of minnie mouse on the chest part and on the red background it really stands out.
The material is very well made, i found that on the first wash i did lose a couple of the fibres but nothing major and when i double checked the tag on the inside it does state that some fibres will be lost but that is down to the fabric. I did check it over just in case for any holes but there were none and i havent lost any fibres out of it since. It is very warm, infact there has been a couple of times that my daughter has had to take it off because she was too warm.
I would recommend tumble drying it on a low heat as it state to avoid any shrinkage but i was also tumble dry after every wash because i found that when i air dried it it didnt seem as fluffy as it did when i cam out of the dryer.
It is true to the sizing too, i normally struggle with my daughter and sizing because they are normally either too big on her or too small but i found that this fit her perfectly. She is 3 years old and the dressing gown was a size 3 to 4.
I would tell everyone to buy one of these of they are after a really nice dressing gown. You can really feel the quality in the fabric and the you can see that it is every bit worth the amount of money you spend on it.
I couldnt tell you the price of it because like i said it was a gift and i never ask how much things were but no matter how much it cost, it was so worth the money.
It is normality at christmas that family always ask you what to buy your children. I tend to sit for around 5 days racking my brains to find something that isn't too expensive and the children will enjoy or like so that I can tell the family what to get.
Last year I decided to tell one of the Aunties to buy robes for the children. This was due to moving into our house we found it was very cold in a morning and at night, I was always ok because I had my robe but the children would moan and I would be bringing down the quilts to keep them warm.
I never get told what type has been bought and was pleasantly supprised when the girls opened them on christmas day. Mine were a dark pink with light pink heart spots on and on the hood they had two mini mouse ears with a satin light pink bow with dark pink spots inbetween them.
At the top of the robe where it would be by your neck there is a press stud that keeps it fastened on the child. This is very easy for the child to undo so this didn't stay closed very long with either of my girls. There is a tie around the waste of the robe that is attached so there is no worry that the child can detach this and put it around their neck and the back is slightly elasticated so that it will stretch around your child.
There is a small picture on Minnie mouse on the left hand side of the chest part of the robe with the name Minnie above it. It also has pockets on either side of the robe which are big enough for my girls to put their dummies into which is good due to my eldest daughter loves to have pockets in everything she has.
My eldest daughter had a 2 to 3 years robe and the youngest had a 9 to 12 months she has just turned one and it now fits her. I found the smaller sizes run quite big but the older ones are a perfect fit.
The customer care instructions inside the robe on the label are very informative, they state that before the robe is washed it will shed fibres but this does not mean there is a fault it is just that it is a luxury fabric. It advises that this is washed before use due to this effect. I always wash new clothes before my children wear them anyway so I never noticed any fibres come from the robe. It also states that you are able to light tumble dry it which is good if you will need it in a hurry like my children always do. You are also able to lightly iron this if needed on the inside of the robe. I have never needed to iron mine but from past experience fluffy clothes tend to loose their softness when ironed.
This was bought from Matalan I couldn't tell you how much it was due to I am not cheaky enough to ask but knowing the store they will have them reasonably priced. They are part of the Disney baby range and after almost 9 months my girls still use these and fit into them well. They still look like brand new which is brilliant due to the eldests can be passed down when she no longer fits into it.
I really like these because they are very soft on the skin and my children have had no irritation to them. I have found that my daughters are kept warm in these and find them comfortable to wear. I also think that they look very cute and due to them being pink my eldest daughter loves it to pieces.
I think these were a worthwhile investment and a great idea from the auntie and would advise parents with young children to buy one. I do wish though that their was one in my size because the feel and warmth from them is lovely and I would definatley wear one.
My eldest daughter loves mini mouse, A few weeks before Christmas each year great Nan gives me the money to go and buy the children something from her by which time I have completed the toy shopping so usually get them clothes, last year I brought her this dressing gown.
It cost £20 from the Disney store, it is made of a lovely soft chenille which feels lovely to the touch, I was a little worried it wouldn't wash very well and with it being white it would need to be washed quite often but it has washed beautifully for 9 months now and still looks lovely and didn't loose its softness either.
The tie waist is easy for my daughter to do her self and undo unlike other roes we have had that had very thin belts on them that got into knots very easily.
At the time of ordering from the Disney web site you could have this robe personalised with your Childs name if you wished to but I didn't opt for this option.
The robe was available in a wide range of sizes starting from 12 months right up to 7 years, I ordered my daughter age 6 to 7 which was her age at the time and it was a good fit but still had lots of growing room in it, the robe still fits her now 9 months on but I don't think she will get much longer out of it now but she loves this robe and has worn it every morning weather it be summer or winter, it has kept her lovely and warm and she looks so cute in the robe with a little bow on the hood, it has been great for when she wants to go back out into the garden for a bit after she has had a bath in the summer and for the cold mornings before the house has had a chance to warm up in the winter, its so soft and snugly it gives comfort to a child as well.
I'm not one for buying my sister clothes when I want to treat her because my mum is ALWAYS buying us all clothes so I might as well let her waste HER money on theings like that and I'll treat to toys and DVDs! But when I was doing a bit of shopping in the Disney Store just before Xmas I saw this mega cute Minnie Mouse dressing gown and knew my sister who's 2 would love it.
She's never had her own dressing gown before so it took a few goes to get her wearing it before she went to bed. She loves Minnie Mouse though and I think she saw it as a kind of blanket because when she was chilling out on the settee before bed she would drape it over herself instead of actually putting it on.
Her's came in age 2/3 but it's available from 12 months and I think the biggest size was 6/7. This one fits her perfect and there's still shedloads of room in it even though she's nearly 3, it's the sort of design that you can tell is going to grow with her and even though it will eventually look shorter as she grows it will always fit nice in the body.
It looks wicked and is mega girly, the dressing gown looks EXACTLY like the one in the photo Dooyoo have got up but it's loads fluffier than it looks. It's weird because even though the main colour is white it doesn't show the dirt up as much as I thought it would and when it does start looking dirty then you can put it in the washing machine and that will bring it up looking as good as new again. You can't tumble dry it but even though it's made of thick material it dries quite quick even just slung over the line so that's not a problem.
The dressing gown is made of 100% cotton and looks lovely and cosy when my sister is wearing it. Now it's summer she only puts it on after a bath but when we had that mega cold weather over Xmas she wore it every night and even went to bed in it one night when it was that cold that even having the heating on full blast didn't warm the house up!
The hood is a good size as well and that's important because a lot of baby and toddler dressing gowns have massive floppy hoods, that's ok for a small baby who isn't very active but for bigger kids it's good to see this one has got a hood that fits just nice on her head.
This dressing gown isn't cheap, I paid £22.00 for it and if it hadn't looked so wicked in the shop I would never have spent that much on such a tiny dressing gown! I'm glad I did though because it looks gorgeous on and is so well made that there isn't even one stitch that has come loose after over 6 months..... and my sister isn't the most careful kid when it comes to her clothes!
