For those of you who don't know what a Grobag is, it is a wearable blanket that will keep your baby at a comfortable temperature all night long. They are really sleeping bags for babies. The reason that they are so popular is that it is impossible for baby to kick this off unlike covers so they won't wake up in the night cold. The Grobag's come in three main sizes 0-6 months 6-18 months and 18-36 months. They also come in three weights 0.5 tog, 1 tog and a 2.5 tog. The tog you use depends on how hot the baby's room is. All new Grobag's come with a free room thermometer so you know which one to use. But as a rough guide the 2.5 tog is suitable for most of the year bar high summer. They are also recommended by the Foundation for Sudden Infant Deaths as a safe way for baby being wrapped up at night to reduce the risk of overheating as this is thought to contribute to SIDS. The Wash & Wear Twin Pack Hippo Hop and Spot ******************************************** This set of two Grobags was something we purchased for our young son. With our first child we had tried both Grobag's and supermarket versions and I found the Grobags washed better and of a better quality material. We didn't have any 1 Tog Grobags in size 0-6 months as our first child was a winter baby so we had just used the 2.5 Tog bags. I always like to have 2 of each Tog so that one can be in the wash and one be used or in case of spares on a night if there has been illness. This set of two Grobags seemed to fit the bill perfectly. The bags are available in either 2.5 Tog or 1 Tog both bags in the set will be the same Tog. The sizes available in the sets are either 0-6 months or 6 -18 months, we picked the 0-6 month sets. Both bags have side zips which mean that there are two poppers at the top of the bag to ensure they remain in place. In the 0-6 bags we have there is an additional popper underneath the arms. Getting our son in and out of the bags we found to be very straight forward till he was starting to roll and then he would find it great fun to try to roll off the bag when it was laid out on the change mat. For this reason when buying older age bags I always go for the bags with the arm holes and front zip. However for our use these were perfect. The placement of the poppers under the arms was used in the first few months of the Grobags use as it was very easy for our son to tuck his arm inside the bag otherwise. By the time he was around 5 months old he no longer needed these poppers to be fastened as his arms would stay in the arm holes even if he wriggled. The quality of the material of the bags was again great and they washed without any fading of colours bobbling of material. We have both line dried and tumbled dried these bags and again we have experienced no problems with the shrinking or damage in any way so quality wise they definitely pass my test. The design of the two bags is quite fun and funky with brightly coloured spots on one of the bags which is very unsex in design meaning it is great if you are buying these for either a boy or a girl and hope to pass them down to younger siblings it wont matter what the design is. The other bag is a printed applique look I actually thought looking at the pictures on the web that it was actually applique so was a little disappointed that they weren't when they arrived. However they still look great fun. What I would say is that compared to some of the other Grobags that we have there are no additional detailing looks such as false pockets or applique and I think this is reflected by the fact that the twin pack is a bit cheaper than buying two separate bags and they are saving money on this detailing work. For me this wasn't an issue as the rest of the quality of the bags was present so I can do without some of the detailing work for a better price. As with all our Grobags my son feels nice and secure in these and sleeps generally well and finds them comfortable to sleep in. I found with both of my children that they slept a lot better once they were large enough for a Grobag. Overall I would definitely recommend the twin pack of Grobags you still get the great quality item that you do with a normal Grobag but a cheaper price and the handy ability to have a spare one if your little one is ill in the night. A full 5 stars for me they are available from the Grobag website for £34.99 for the pair I think they are good value.
