“ Manufacturer: JoJo Maman Bébé / Clothing Type: Hats „
Given the terrible winter that has just past, many new hats were purchased in my household. I wouldn't have minded one of these Polarfleece hats for myself, but sadly they do not come in adult sizes. The moment you lay your hands on the soft fabric however, you will wish they did.
We bought the grape fuchsia stripe hat, which is identical in design to the other hats in the range, but is comprised of dark purple, fuchsia, mid-green, white and pale blue stripes of varying widths. The fuscia shades dominate the colour scheme however, so this shade will not be popular with boys. The hat will cover all the back of a child's head, and the top front half of their head up to the eyebrow line. It is particularly effective at keeping in the cold due to the fact that it also covers the ears, and ends in stripy tastles. There is also some tastle detail at the top of the hat.
That hat was not as thick as I thought it was going to be when I ordered it, but it does heat up remarkably quickly, and though I cannot vouch for this personally, I am told the hat becomes 'snug' inside after ten to fifteen minutes of wear. You can actually feel the heat if you place your hand on the fabric when the hat is being worn, and its fleecy texture is non-irritating, unlike some wool-based products. I have also found that the hat is very durable, and even when it has been tugged at and thrown about it retains its shape and has not sustained any tears.
The hats are available from jojomamanbebe.co.uk, and each design is available in three sizes: 0 - 12 months, 1 - 2 years and 3 - 5 years. The range of designs are:
- Fuchsia Pink Stripe
- Grape Fuchsia Stripe
- Polka Dot
- Rainbow Stripe
The fuchsia, grape, navy, pink and red designs are all plain, with the others combining at least two colours in their design. All the designs and sizes come in at the same price of £12. This is a fantastic price, even if your child uses the hat for just one winter. The comfort and warmth afforded by the hat will be hugely appreciated by your little one, and you will find there is little complaining when it comes to venturing out into the cold if they have their polarfleece hat for comfort. Highly recommended.
It was a cold winter this year, especially with all the snow and icy that hit us at the beginning of the year. My daughter already had a hat but I wanted something that was going to cover her ears and it was when I was searching through baby sites that I came across the JoJo Maman Bebe website.
I had never used this site before. I had heard about it before and seen it in many leaflets in baby magazines but I always thought it looked a little expensive and just didn't bother. I decided to give it a try as I really wanted my daughter to have a better hat.
Whilst searching the website, I came across the Polar Fleece Pixie Hats. Firstly, I was amazed at the variety of colours they came in. The list is:
*Fuchsia Pink Stripe
*Grape Fuchsia Stripe
They come in 3 different sizes which are 0-12months, 1-2 years and 3-5 years. They cost £12.00 each and can be found here: http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+Polarfleece-Pixie-Hats+A2363
The description said that the hat was their best selling hat and was guarenteed to keep your child's head, face and ears protected from the cold and bitter winds. The website said that the hat was made from the same fleece that is used in ski wear which backs up the claim of warmth for your child. I decided to take the plunge and order if for my daughter.
It arrived very quickly and I ordered it in the pink colour. The colour was vibrant and the hat felt soft and snuggly. It was very fleecy and it was obvious to the eye that this was going to be a warm hat. When I tried it on my daughter, it fit perfectly and I was pleased to find that it had an elastic back which provides a better fit. The ear bits were plenty long enough and covered my daughter's ears nicely. My daughter found the hat to be easy to put on herself and to take off too.
After taking my daughter out in the cold weather, she turned to me, smiling and said "My hat is very warm, Mama. My head likes it's new blanket" which I thought was very sweet and told me that this hat was doing its job. When my daughter took the hat off when we got home, her head and ears were nice and toasty.
I definately recommend this hat for the winter as well as the JoJo Maman Bebe website. Do not judge a book by its cover. I had some serious misconceptions about the website and the amount items would cost. I am glad I had a look at it as I have bought a few things from there now for nowhere near the amount I expected I would.
My kids and I spend a lot of time outside together, on walks and camping etc, soI need to make sure they're warm. People lose the most amount of body heat through their heads so chances are if you have a snuggly warm head under a hat, the rest of you should be reasonably warm too.
I bought 2 of these hats for my kids last December as I spotted them on offer and thought they looked very comfortable and warm. I liked the shape of the hat as it's longer at the sides which covers the ears up and stops them from getting cold too. There is also a cute tassle on the top of the hat, as well as on the bottom of the ear 'flaps'.
These fleecy hats are available in a range of colours, my children chose red and blue versions for themselves, and after trying them on in the shop said they were comfortable and easy to put on.
The fleece material is actually made from recycled plastic bottles which is amazing considering how soft they are. Maybe that's why they have worn so well since I bought them, they only look a few weeks old rather than nearly 8 months old and have hardly any wear on them at all. The colours have stayed true and are bright and attractive still.
When my kids have worn them, whenever we get back from being outside the inside of the hat is lovely and warm and the outside is cold, meaning that the heat generated from my two's heads is being kept locked inside. They have certainly never complained of being cold when I've asked them.
When I bought my hats they were on offer - they are usually £12 each with £5 off if more than 1 is bought (making it usually £19 for 2 hats), but I paid £16 for the pair. Considering that the hats have been in pretty much constant wear since their purchase due to our rubbish weather, I think this is actually good value and works out cheaper in the long run than buying lots of cheap hats that wear out quickly.
If you are looking for a hat which would keep your child's head warm and cosy then this is the right one. I like the style of the hat because it has elastic to back for a good fit and also long ear flaps to keep the ears warm especially when it is windy. The hat is easy to pull on which is very important when your child is at the nursery or at the pre school.
It is a 100% Polartec fleece made from recycled plastic bottles. The producer says that Polartec Fleece is cosy, warm and comfortable with all the properties of performance level ski wear.
And I can add that this is a good quality fleece and wears off very well. My younger son is wearing his older brother's red Pixie hat which is in a very good condition. It does not look like a cheap fleece blanket. I bought it for my son in 2006 and he used to wear it from November till March for two years. Last year, he got a lovely navy colour hat for his third birthday. I looked at it today and it is still like new. These hats make kids look so cute!
It costs £12.00 and you can save £5.00 if you buy any 2 fleece hats. Just look at them. Are they are not beautiful? I wish there was a size for me! http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/img/pic/swatches/a2363.htm
Apparently, you could probably buy these hats even at a cheaper price on a winter sale starting at the end of December. Last year I got a number of very good things at a very low price. Also the delivery is free.
Are there any disadvantages? I do not think there are any. May be the hat is a bit pricey but the quality is very good and it is not for one winter.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for reading my review!
