Advantages: scratch mits, last well, good designs
Having recently had a baby, I have a huge supply of sleepsuits. If a shop sells sleepsuits, I probably have one (at least) from there. This means that I have been able to gauge well the quality of the sleepsuit from each shop and, when it comes to buying the next size up, know where to buy from and where to avoid. Mothercare is very firmly in the 'to buy from' list.
I like Mothercare as a shop anyway - it's a brand that I have come to trust, so I would have been disappointed if their sleepsuits were anything less than excellent. It never ceases to amaze me the difference in sizing that occurs between shops - this is true when I buy clothes, but even more exaggerated when buying baby clothes. 0-3 months in one store seems the same size as 3-6 months in another, but I have found Mothercare to have the sizing pretty much spot on.
The sleepsuits that I have from Mothercare all have adorable patterns on and are made of soft material that I do not hesitate to let come close to my baby's delicate skin. The design feature that I like most with Mothercare sleepsuits is that the bottom of the sleeves have flaps of material that can be folded over baby's hand to act as a scratch mit to prevent the baby scratching themself. This is a very useful feature as my baby has really sharp nails and I have had difficulty keeping scratch mits on him.
Not only is the fit good, but they are well designed so that it is easy to dress baby in them. Most of mine have snappers that run the length of the suit and down one leg. This means that nothing has to be pulled over baby's head and it can be slipped on relatively easily (and is very convenient for nappy changes).
I have also found that these sleepsuits wash up really well, and maintain their colour well. The material also keeps new looking and doesn't bobble easily even when washed at higher temperatures.
The price of the sleepsuits from Mothercare is a little higher than that in other shops such as Matalan or Primark, but you really are paying for quality. They are likely to last well and more likely to be handed down to future siblings etc as they maintain their original quality much better than a lot of other brands of sleepsuits that I have tried. They also make a great present if you have friends or family with a new baby as everyone knows the brand and they have some really unique designs. Recommended.
Summary: excellent sleepsuits
