A great pair of baby and toddler shoes that are well made as they are cute

As I start to sort out through the baby clothes that we had for our son and that we will use with our new addition I came across these small pair of baby shoes that are still looking good and I have fond memories of my son wearing these cite brown suede shoes. Who are Star Child Shoes? ************************ Star Child shoes are the run by a lady who used to design adult shoes. Initially these were made in her home but the company has now expanded so it has a small factory making these in the UK If you are influenced by fashion and music personalities and what they buy then you should know these have been bought by Liam Gallagher and the Beckham's for their children. They make shoes for children from 0-5 years old. What are they? **************** The pair that we have are for 12-18 months and are referred to by Star child as large. They are made form beautifully soft suede that I did worry may start to be a bit grubby. Stitched on the top are two stars of slightly different sizes and colours giving them a nice retro look. The base of the sole is made from soft non slip suede as with all of the Star child range and the brown of the sole complements well the brown of the uppers. The sole however is made from tougher suede so whilst still soft it is more robust to the touch. The rear of the shoe is elasticated meaning it is easy for mum to slip on but very hard for baby to slip off. These are part of the Urban boy range they do and include other designed such as a Mod circle and trainer look. Our experience **************** This is the second pair of Star Child shoes that we bought for our son after we loved the first pair so much as they were so cute to look at and very soft to the touch. The style of these shoes looked perfect on my little boy. Equally as appealing was the fact that there were no logo's from the latest Disney movie or it calling him a cheeky monkey or similar and instead he looked adorable. The size we had was 12-18 months old the only shoes he had worn prior to these were also from Star Child and nice and soft which I think is important is being recommend more and more by paediatricians. This is in part due to hard restrictive shoes can cause problems with how the feet grow. As these shoes are soft leather none of these issues are a problem. Equally as these are leather it is easy for feet to breath as it were in the shoes. Putting the shoes on to my son was very straight forward these would slip on to his feet over his socks in the same way an adult would put a pair of slippers on. The elastic at the beginning was quite tight but not so tight that it left a mark on his feet. Over time of wearing the elastic gradually stretched and lost some of its initial tightness but never to the point that these shoes could be either pulled off or they fell off. In fact these are the only shoes that my son could never take off himself and the staff at his nursery were very impressed by this to as they couldn't believe that baby shoes that couldn't be removed by the baby existed. My son started to walk in the house around the 13 month mark so these shoes were perfect for giving him a soft shoe to be able to move his feet in an unrestricted way. We tended to use these shoes in the house and when out at play groups so that he had a nice shoe on. We didn't really have him wearing these outdoors so the suede nature of these wasn't really tested by the weather and elements. As he walked the soles provided a bit of friction for him to stick to the some of the wooden and vinyl floors at home and at nursery. He never slipped because of the shoes when learning to walk yes he would bump down but it was always bottom first to the ground as he lost balanced rather than slipping over. The shoes did take on some slight creases to it but because the leather was so soft it never actually cracked or split. The appearance of the shoes even with these creases would still attract attention and comments from other mums and people went out as they commented on how cute these were. When I have being looking at these shoes ready for our next son to wear I have noticed that there has been no colour change and though there are some creases these still look cutie and still have plenty of life left in them for our new addition. My son has never sucked his toes so I don't know if the colour would fade if this had happened however I am reassured by the fact that all Star Child shoes contain no harmful dyes or chemicals so if our new addition does then they can come to no harm. Overall and recommendation *************************** I would definitely recommend these to other parents as the shoes are well made and cope well with the rough and tumble of a baby and toddlers life. They remain on the feet unlike some other shoes I have tried. The non-slip soles are good when baby is learning to walk especially if you have wooden floors. The shoes still look good after a lot of wear and there has been no cracking or splitting to the leather. As the dyes are non-toxic if you child sucks their feet these won't harm them. At £17 for a pair on all sizes up to 24 months I think these are good buy and if you buy direct from their website delivery is free too. The website for the company is www.star-child.co.uk
