Advantages: Inexpensive, practical and comfortable
Disadvantages: Size wasnt quite right
Like most boys of his age, my three year old son loves Thomas the Tank Engine. So when I saw these in Mothercare for a steal of Euro5.99 (around £4) I had to get them for him. Every christmas I buy new nightwear for the kids, my husband and myself...the whole lot, pyjamas, slippers, dressing gowns. I knew he would love wearing these as they had a picture of Thomas himself on the front.
**The Slippers**
The slippers were available for babies of 1 up to 3 so it was perfect. I got him the biggest size they had and knew they would fit as I measured them against his foot in the shop...easiest solution because believe me trying to get a three year old hyperactive little boy to try on shoes in a busy shop is another story. There were two selections on show, one red and navy and the other blue and navy. I would have preferred the blue version as it would be more in line with the image of thomas but they had no larger sizes in this option :(. Oliver didn't mind though, he was happy with any Thomas branded clothing.
**The Style**
As mentioned before, we went with the red and navy coloured slippers. They are mainly red, with a navy back and strap and a picture of thomas himself in blue on the front tip. They have a navy velcro strap to fasten and loosen, with thomas emblazoned across. The slipper felt soft and warm and inside had a warm fluffy material which would be cosy and soft to walk in. They looked great and very colourful which small boys love.
**Wear & Tear**
Oliver's feet slipped right in when we tried them on at home. They were a bit loose, but the velcro strap held them on and he walks and runs away fine in them. I only let him wear them now with socks though just in case he falls over and has an accident. They have a fine sturdy grip on the ends of them and are unlike many slippers that slide across wooden floors and sometimes stick. They are quite durable as he wears them nearly every evening...running, jumping and cascading off furniture as only three year olds can perfect...and they are still going strong.
**My Opinion**
I think they are a great pair of slippers. They have the novelty factor, oliver thinks its amazing that thomas' face is on his feet, he even thinks he is a train himself sometimes choo chooing along the floor slippers over his hands!! I love the velcro strap as he can take them on and off at ease by himself. At that price they were a steal as he gets more fun nearly out of these than a twenty pound imitation train. Practical, comfortable and very fun. All you could want and more in a pair of slippers.
Summary: Practical, comfortable and very fun. All you could want and more in a pair of slippers.
