“ Brand: Asda / Type: Top „
As you may see from a couple of previous reviews I have been stocking up on some winter clothes for Jayden, and was lucky enough to get him several outfits in the sale that Asda had. Quite a few of the items had a farmyard theme to them with motifs of tractors and various farm animals on them. One item of clothing I purchased was the Asda Tractor Print Baby Top, I was drawn to the colour of this top as I had bought Jayden some dribble bibs that would go perfectly with this so I had to have it.
The Asda Tractor Print Baby Top is basically a long sleeved top, it comes in a bright green colour and has a large motif of a tractor in the middle of it, the tractor is made up of different fabrics and different coloured stitching, this contrasts perfectly against the green background and the range of colours means that this top will go with a lot of different outfits. The style of the top reminds me of a sweatshirt with the stitching around the neck and cuffs and the fabric around both the neck and cuffs being ribbed, there is also stitching going around the bottom of the top, all of this is in the same green colour as the fabric meaning it does not standout against the fabric yet it does add to the style of it giving it that sweatshirt effect.
When it comes to buying Jayden's winter clothes I like to get something that will keep him warm, will go with a variety of things so that he gets a lot of wear out of it and something that you can also layer should you require, the Asda Tractor Print Baby Top certainly fits into these categories, whilst the fabric is not that thick (it reminds me of a thick t shirt type material) it is ideal for layering, I can easily put a T-shirt underneath this top and it is not too bulky and uncomfortable for Jayden to wear, also it is ideal for wearing under a jacket or fleece type top, again the fabric this is made of is enough to keep your baby warm but not so thick that they will feel uncomfortable and restricted when they move. This top is ideal for the weather we have at the moment, I have been putting Jayden in it with a short sleeved vest underneath and it has kept him lovely and warm, however I do feel I will need something more either over or under it as the weather gets colder but with the tops slightly loose fit this will not be a problem at all.
Since Jayden was born I do not think there has been a day gone by where I have not had washing to do, his clothes are always in the wash and sometimes he goes through a couple of outfits a day, so when it comes to buying his clothes I like something that is easy to care for and does not have any special washing requirements. Again this is the case with the Asda Tractor Print Baby Top, I can simply put this into a normal 30 or 40 degree wash with items of a similar colour, I do not have to do anything special with it. The only care instructions it gives on the label is that it should be washed inside out and also ironed on the reverse, personally I had no idea it had to be washed inside out until I started writing this review and thought I should check the label, I can honestly say I have never washed it inside out and have not had a problem at all. As for ironing the top on the reverse this is something I would do due to the tractor motif on the front, however personally I have not felt the need to iron it, after washing the top and allowing it to dry I can honestly say it is not creased at all and is ready to wear without ironing it, however should it ever need ironing I would iron it inside out. The top is made from 100% cotton so it is also breathable and soft against Jayden's skin.
This top comes in a variety of sizes, the Asda baby clothes tend to range from tiny baby through to 12 - 18 months. I went for the 0 -3 months size, whilst Jayden is 5 months old I do find that Asda sizes are quite generous and he needs a size smaller from here especially in tops. When I tried this on him it was still a little on the big side, not so much so that it was noticeably too big but he does have a bit of room to grow which is ideal as it means it will last him through the winter.
As I have mentioned I purchased this top in a sale at Asda, as it is one of their own brand products it is only available in Asda stores, this top should have been sold for £6.00, however when I purchased it it was only £3.00, personally I thought this was excellent value for money, I would have been happy to pay full price for this top as I like the cute design and the colour, also it is made and finished to a high standard, however I was more than pleased to discover that it was half price it certainly was a bargain.
Jayden has had a lot of wear out of this top, it looks lovely with a variety of outfits including jeans, tracksuit bottoms and trousers, it is definitely more of a causal top however it still looks smart enough to go out in. The top is easy to get on Jayden, some tops which are a bit tighter around the neck can be hard to get over the head of a wiggly baby, however the neck of this top stretches nice and wide so I can quickly put it over his head before he knows what is happening, the top has had quite a lot of washing since we have had it and I am pleased to say that it has managed to withstand this, it is still in excellent condition, the colour has not faded at all and it looks as good as new.
The fabric is lovely and soft against Jayden's skin and is perfect to wear on its own or with another top underneath or over the top of it. All in all I have been extremely pleased with the Asda Tractor Print Baby Top and would highly recommend this to anyone as the perfect addition to any little boys wardrobe.
