Organix Rice Cakes- Raspberry and Blueberry
by haybel19
I started weaning my daughter at 4 months old when even hungry baby milk did not satisfy her, so we started on purees. When she got to six months however she showed lots of interest in holding food for herself and wanting to feed herself- obviously I did not want to let her have the spoon and end up with puree on the ceiling so we ... started looking around for finger foods and discovered the Organix range.
As I have a choking phobia I was understandably quite nervous about giving my daughter finger foods and was unsure where to start and what would be appropriate both in terms of safety and ease and enjoyment for my daughter. I then found the Organix range. There are lots of different finger foods in the Organix range including biscuits, rice cakes and crisps and we have tried lots of them (I haave pinched a few!) ! I love that the Organix range has so many choices.
My daughter particularly loves the Raspberry and Blueberry rice cakes. The packet says they are suitable from 7 months however my daughter is slightly under this and has managed them very well, but obviously you need to consider each indiviual child and exercise great caution. Also bear in mind that my daughter was weaned early.
The rice cakes do not contain any added salt, sugar or colourings and Organix have a no junk promise which really appealed to me as I want to give my daughter healthy finger foods. As a first time mummy, learning the weaning process, these really appealed to me as a healthy snack.
The rice cakes come in a raspberry coloured bag clearly marked with the Organix logo and our packet was 50g and cost around 75p.
The rice cakes themselves are the perfect size for small hands to hold, and my daughter holds them quite easily. As she sucks and gums them they soften and small bits come off but she manages them very well. She loves the flavour of them and I think the bright coloured coating also appeals to her.
I normally feed her before our meal, however she likes to have a rice cake to eat whilst we are eating and very proudly keeps showing it to us. When they are soggy they do get a bit messy but thats to be expected of just about any finger food you give to a baby, and any marks on her clothes have easily washed out.
My daughter absolutely loves them and a packet lasts us quite a while. We keep them in an air tight container to keep them nice and fresh. I think these are excellent value and we would highly recommend them. I think they will be a firm favourite in our house for a long while to come. Read the complete review |

Hipp Organic Good Night Milk Drink
by NUDUL
That's what my husband calls it anyway. This formula milk has been designed to be thicker and creamier than normal formula and help them sleep. I was unsure whether to get it or not at first because I have seen and heard mixed reviews about it. My little one is poorly though and not taking an awful lot of milk or food at the moment ... and since there are extra calories in it (only 2 or 3) I thought I would give it a go. We tried it for the first time a few nights ago, and the waking every two hours in the night (which he has only ever done while he has been poorly) and this has gradually gone down to four hours, so even though he isn't taking a lot of food during the day (which the doctor has advised is fine as he is drinking plenty) he is getting a good fill just before bed which is exactly what I wanted.
The formula itself is mixed with rice and buckwheat as well as Follow on Milk which does therefore give the product a nice creamy texture and a thicker consistency compared to normal Follow on Milk which means it takes that little bit longer for baby to drink it. It is advised that from 6 months, you give 6 ounces once a day, and from 12 months you give 7 ounces once a day. The tub is roughly £6 dependant on where you purchase it from (I got it from Tesco's but have seen it in Asda and Boots too) and is a 350 gram tub. It is suitable from 6 months as part of a weaning diet and can be used as part of a bedtime routine given in a bottle or beaker until the age of three years old.
I have been very happy with the milk so far, it has certainly helped us get a good nights sleep while my little one has been poorly. Read the complete review |

Hipp Organic Cauliflower Cheese
by NUDUL
I have been very lucky with my son in that the only thing he doesn't like is mango and chocolate so weaning so far has been very easy for us as I know that what ever I give him, it's more than likely after a couple of mouthfuls to get used to the taste he will happily eat it. That being said, he has his firm favourites and this is most ... definitely one of them. The texture is nice and smooth and I have to say, it smells like feet. It has a very strong smell and he didn't seem to have any issues with this. I have found that warmed in the microwave for 20 seconds and then stirred it is easy to make sure it is a nice temperature all the way through and the taste is okay to my adult pallet, a little bland, but then I like spicy food.
Oliver regularly has this food and wolfs it down every time, I never have any issues with him spitting it out, or trying to get used to the taste over again, it's an instant like. I would recommend this one to try.
When I buy it, I get it from Tesco's as it is in the offer of 12 jars for £5 which I think 12 meals for that amount is well worth it and a very good way to get a huge variety of tastes for them. Read the complete review |
