Cow & Gate Baby Balance Fruity Muesli
by haybel19
Having used Cow and Gate baby milk from the start with my daughter naturally when weaning her I started with their puree range. There is a a very wide choice of purees in the Cow and Gate range including: main meals such as my first bologenese, grandpa's sunday lunch and fishermans bake, desserts such as apple and banana swirl and apple ... crumble and breakfasts such as porridge or fruity muesli.
The purees are clealy marked at the stage and age of baby they are appropriate for and this one does not have any added sugar or preservatives. The fruity muesli is a stage one product suitable from 6 months and comes in a 125g jar. It is decribed as pureed apple and banana with milled oats- these are completely blended, so the puree itself is totally smooth.
It is widely available from supermarkets and chemists and like the other purees in the range costs around 70p per jar, although Boots sometimes have an offer where you can buy 10 jars for £5.
The puree itself is creamy coloured and is quite smooth. It smells quite appetizing too. My daughter really enjoyes this - she started having it at 6 months having tried other purees previously. It is her favourite breakfast. Having tried this I can confirm it does taste fruity but it is more of a hint than a strong taste and its difficult to pick out individual fruits.
We serve it to her straight from the jar, as she will eat all of it in one sitting, however if your child will only eat some you are advised to put the required amount in a bowl and keep the jar refridgerated and it can be kept for upto 48 hours.
The product itself does not stain if the inevitable happens and it ends up on clothes unlike some of the brighter coloured purees.
The only disadvantage is that a glass jar is less easy to transport than purees which come in pouches or cartons. Read the complete review |

Plum Baby Blueberry, Banana & Vanilla
by haybel19
Having used Cow and Gate baby milk from the start with my daughter naturally when weaning her I started with their puree range. One day whilst shopping I noticed the Plum baby range, and that they had a number of flavours including the Blueberry Banana and Vanilla pouch. I brought a couple of the 100g pouches for £1.09 each from a local ... shop they are widely available from supermarkets and chemists.
I was attracted initially by the flavour as it would be something different for her to try, and as far as I am aware there is no blueberry puree in the Cow and Gate range. Upon further inspection I was impressed by the fact they are made from 100% superfoods and are organic. This puree is stage 1 weaning and is suitable from 4-6 months.
The puree comes in a squeezable pouch and is very smooth and is quite easy for my daughter to eat, even though she started weaning at 4months she managed this with ease. It is a deep purple colour and smells lovely, so much so i had to dip my finger in for a taste and I have to say it is lovely.
My daughter absolutely loved this and could not get enough. She was most disapointed to finish her dinner and kept trying to kick me for more. Bless her.
We have brought this puree time and again and it is a firm favourite of hers. We have also tried the banana apricot porridge and the strawberry and banana and these are great also.
Little miss would highly recommend as would I even though they are more expensive than the Cow and Gate puree jars where you get 125g for around 70p and these are around£1-£1.10 for 100g. Read the complete review |

Hipp Organic Good Night Milk Drink
by NUDUL
That's what my husband calls it anyway. This formula milk has been designed to be thicker and creamier than normal formula and help them sleep. I was unsure whether to get it or not at first because I have seen and heard mixed reviews about it. My little one is poorly though and not taking an awful lot of milk or food at the moment ... and since there are extra calories in it (only 2 or 3) I thought I would give it a go. We tried it for the first time a few nights ago, and the waking every two hours in the night (which he has only ever done while he has been poorly) and this has gradually gone down to four hours, so even though he isn't taking a lot of food during the day (which the doctor has advised is fine as he is drinking plenty) he is getting a good fill just before bed which is exactly what I wanted.
The formula itself is mixed with rice and buckwheat as well as Follow on Milk which does therefore give the product a nice creamy texture and a thicker consistency compared to normal Follow on Milk which means it takes that little bit longer for baby to drink it. It is advised that from 6 months, you give 6 ounces once a day, and from 12 months you give 7 ounces once a day. The tub is roughly £6 dependant on where you purchase it from (I got it from Tesco's but have seen it in Asda and Boots too) and is a 350 gram tub. It is suitable from 6 months as part of a weaning diet and can be used as part of a bedtime routine given in a bottle or beaker until the age of three years old.
I have been very happy with the milk so far, it has certainly helped us get a good nights sleep while my little one has been poorly. Read the complete review |
