Advantages: Closest to breast milk

Disadvantages: not avaliable in ALLshops that sell baby formula milk

I am currently breastfeeding my second daughter, but I havent always got the time to express off if I need to leave her,so on reading a few opinions on Aptimil I went and brought some.
I had been given Lucy Cow and Gate and she would just drink 3 or 4 oz and then be hungry again when I got back to her.She has also refused the Cow and Gate and I have had to feed her while being at the gym,as they have a creche facility there.

After leaving her with hubby to do the monthly shop,I was told when I came back the good news. She had drunk 7oz and had a burp then drunk the other 2oz without a whinge!wow,I thought.I went out again a few times now and the milk again didnt touch the sides, just straight down, so I think she likes it.

Its really easy to make up. Just boil some fresh water in the kettle and let it cool for 20 mins or so.If you are making up a bottles then just add the desired amount of water into the bottles (eg 7 oz) and then add the same number of formula using the scoop provided. Please be precise and dont heap the scoops. Use a knife to level them off so the current amount id added to the water. Only use the scoop provided with Aptimil as the other scoops you get with other formula milks are slightly bigger. If you add to much formula, over time your baby could put on too much weight. If you put too little in, then your baby could fail too thrive.. so be careful.

After adding the correct amount of formula to the cooled boiled water, you can put the teat on lid on and gently shake to mix the formula with the water. Do be careful, as it will leak out of the teat..so please dont do it with freshy boiled water.

If you are still breastfeeding but just using this for the old time then follow the instructions above. On the other hand if you are leaving your baby to go back to work but still want to feed when you get home,it could be easier making the feed up in a jug. I did this with my first daughter.I only worked 15 hr
s a week but she was starting to use me as her dummy during the day. I didnt want to slop breast feeding..so i just weaned her onto formula during the day and feed her first thing in the morning and then before she went to bed.

I made up a pint of formula, the same way as above but instead of doing it in bottles I did it in a jug. A pint is about 20oz..so if you add 20 scoops to the water and then stir it to mix it in you have milk for the day. You can use it for their breakfast or their drinks. If you find you need less than a pint, just alter it till you find the right amount.

You can use cows milk in breakfast/cooking but not as a drink till a year. It can set off an allergy to cows milk if you introduce it as a drink before a year..so introduce it slowly into cooking and with breakfast cereal first.

You can store formula milk in the fridge upto 24 hours in the fridge but dont keep it in the door, as this is the warmest part of the fridge. Slide it to the back of the fridge where it is the coldest.

When you need it, just heat it up in a jug of hot water or in the microwave.

BE VERY CAREFUL IF USING A MICROWAVE. The milk will heat up unevenly causing HOT SPOTS, so it is VERY important that you dont heat it for too long and that you shake the bottle before you test the temperature on the inside of your wrists. Leave the bottle to sit for a minute after testing as the microwaves are still heating the milk for this time.

All you have to do now is feed you baby.

I really feel that this is the best formula going and not just for breasfed babies either.

It says on the packet it is the closest to breast milk as they have put in proteins and others that can only be found in breast milk. I know that all the hype about breast is best and that the proteins found in brest milk promote healthiness. I think that whatever way you choose to feed your baby s/he will thrive. I personally wanted to breastfeed bu
t using this formula milk has given me the freedom to go out if I wanted to.
