Advantages: Easy quick snack
Disadvantages: none
Ok so there is a bit of plagerism going on here , I'm not actually going to talk to you about rice krispies ... but I am going to tell you about Boots organic rice cakes . Boots Oranic Rice Cakes ************************ OK you've all probably seen these on the bottom of the baby food shelves , glanced at them and thought they'ed probably be a bit bland and that your baby would take one taste and spit it out . We decided to buy some for our tot a wee while ago , we tried her on rusks and organix breadsticks and thought she might fancy a change .They only cost 92p for a 50g bag ( which is quite a lot of rice cakes consiering that they consist of puffed rice and hardly weigh anything) . They are made with organic rice, and if you've read any of my other baby food opinions you'd know why I prefer organic food . They are from 6 months and are an ideal finger food , they are really light and can easliy be pooped into the changing bag for a snack for baby while in town . Each individual cake is about the size of a milk carton lid , so ideal for little hands to hold a grip and are great for encouraging self-feeding . They are perfect for mealtimes when time is precious . A rice cake with grated cheese or mashed banana is a quick easy healthy lunch for a baby . Our tot generally has them as a mid morning or afternnon snack with some juice . Once opened the rice cakes last for about 2 weeks , they do go a bit soft if you leave them in the bag , so we put them in a sterilized plastic tub . The rice cakes are just Organic wholegrain brown rice and contain Thiamin ( so they contain lots of Folic acid - good for baby and pregnant women and the rest of us ) . The brown rice ensures they conatin lots of fibre and so when eaten with a drink of juice can prevent constipation , occasionally a problem with bottle fed babies . They have no added salt , egg + gluten free , vegetarian
and do not contain dairy of soya products . BUT don't just take my word for it , buy some and let me know how you get on !

- 28/02/01 My son is now 6 months old and did eat these for a while but now he's on to other bigger and better things so he just throws these back at me. They are very bland I must admit. |
