Rice Cakes - Finger food for babies I bought these from Asda when they were on offer, i think they cost me around 0.60p I thought this would be great to give him a little try of, so he can help to learn feed himself. At first Joe (who was 6ish month old) was not interested at all, he picked them up and put them in his mouth and the face he pulled was hilarious. He made absolutley no intention of trying to do it again, and was more interesed in his dummy. I have tried him on numerous occasions with no progression. When my son hit the 6 month stage, I went straight out to see what new foods I could buy for him. I got him all of his tins of food, but wanted some snacks for him to munch on if he got hungry in between meals. So, I bought some Cow & Gate organic pure baby rice cakes, they are designed for babies 6+ months, gave them to him that day and he loved them. They are about 3-4 cm in diameter, which make them easy to hold, they get soggy the more he sucks them so they are easy to eat. The only problem I have, which isn't anything major, is the crumbs left in his seat after he has finished, nothing a hoover can't remove though. You should never leave your baby unattended ...
