Rice Cakes - Finger food for babies
I bought these from Asda when they were on offer, i think they cost me around 0.60p I thought this would be great to give him a little try of, so he can help to learn feed himself.
At first Joe (who was 6ish month old) was not interested at all, he picked them up and put them in his mouth and the face he pulled was hilarious. He made absolutley no intention of trying to do it again, and was more interesed in his dummy.
I have tried him on numerous occasions with no progression.
I can only describe the taste as bland, alike plain popcorn and the texture is similar too.
I cannot say how the food is eaten, as he didnt get that far. The rice cakes are small and easy for a baby to hold, and I don't think that there is a choking hazard with these as they are soft in texture.
Overall I think this product is really simple and if you child likes bland food they will probably like these, if your children are anythin like mine then I would stay away. Opt for Rusks or the Organix finger food instead. They have much more flavour than these in my opinion.
Cow and Gate Organic Pure Baby Rice Cakes
These are designed to be a first snack food/finger food for babies and made from pure and organic ingredients
When My first child started approaching weaning stage I started to look into what baby foods and snacks were available and how suitable they were to my lifestyle and and to my babies needs.
As probably with all new mums, I wanted to make sure that my child got only the best, freshest and most nutritous foods, however I also had to ensure they were reasonabley priced and convenient as I returned to work quite soon after she started eating solids.
As a full time working mum I found it difficult to juggle all the things I wanted for my child ie. convenience food that is also organic and nutritous.
Cow and Gate Organic Pure Baby Rice Cakes were one of the products that I simply loved to give to my child (and subsequently children) as a healthy snack.
The Rice Cakes are Organic, Nutritious and have no artificial colours or preservatives etc.
My children loved eating them, they are convenient, reasonalby priced and most importantly nutritious.
When my son hit the 6 month stage, I went straight out to see what new foods I could buy for him. I got him all of his tins of food, but wanted some snacks for him to munch on if he got hungry in between meals. So, I bought some Cow & Gate organic pure baby rice cakes, they are designed for babies 6+ months, gave them to him that day and he loved them. They are about 3-4 cm in diameter, which make them easy to hold, they get soggy the more he sucks them so they are easy to eat. The only problem I have, which isn't anything major, is the crumbs left in his seat after he has finished, nothing a hoover can't remove though. You should never leave your baby unattended when they are eating or drinking.
What is in them?
- Organic rice
- Thiamin (vitamin B1)
and that is it!! Now for the nice to know bits:
- No added milk or lactose
- No added soya
- No added egg
- No artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives
- Gluten free
Some people might not worry too much about the above ingrediants, but whenever I buy baby food, I always check what is in it. I feel it is important to have your baby on a well balanced diet as this is the stage when they are growing the most and need all the goodness they can get.
3 Cheers for Cow & Gate, I love all of their foods and drinks.
