      great first food

I like the cow and gate range of baby food for many reasons. One being that I feel that their range of foods are the best for my baby. All my children have at some time eaten the cow and gate range of baby balance food and two of them have eaten the baby balance mix your own foods. I have recently started my baby daughter on the jar food and have bought a wide range of meals for her to try so that she can gain a taste of different flavours. This cauliflower cheese is one of her favourite flavours, it is from the vegetarian range of baby foods. This can be identified by a green lid with a picture of a leaf on the top. This is another reason that I like cow and gate because it is easy to see what food category that the jar comes in, red is for red meat, yellow is for poultry, blue is for fish and green is for vegetarian. They also do different stages in this range too, at the minute my daughter is on stage 1 this means the food is very well blended for my daughter to be able to swallow, it is smooth with no chewy bits. I find this good because my daughter is able to eat the food with no problems. The size jar that I have bought is 125g this is good for her stage too because they do not eat a lot when they are first weaning. I have found that half of one of these jars is a sufficient amount for my daughter to eat at each meal sitting. It is a small glass jar that is able to be heated in the microwave or in a pot of hot water. I empty half the contents of the jar into a bowl and heat in the microwave, mix well and leave to stand and cool before feeding. The remainder of the jar is able to be put in the fridge to keep for the next meal. This can be kept up to 48 hours which is good because I am able to have 2 jars open at a time so mine child is having a different dinner and tea and the rest is stored ready for the next day. The points that they live by at cow and gate for this food are that it is perfectly smooth and easy to swallow, this statement is true my child has no problems with eating this and when I have mixed the food it is very smooth. They use the best baby grade ingredients, from what is stated on the jar this is a true statement too. Approved by babies and their moms, I find this reassuring because nothing is better than a parents approval when it comes to situations about your own child. Also they have baby nutritionists who ensure that the right goodness is in every pot, I like that they have nutritionists because I feel that my baby is getting the best to help her with her development. In this jar there is no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives, no added egg, gluten free and suitable for vegetarians, this is good because children who have an allergy to gluten are able to eat this and also a lot of people are vegetarian so they are able to feed their children food with out meat that is healthy and has the right balance of vitamins and minerals to help them grow. They also do a wide range in the vegetarian range so the child can have a varied diet. They have a serving suggestion on the side of the jar which is to help the consumer when feeding the child, I find this useful information for first time parents and helps you protect your child from harm when feeding. This is good information that I think is brilliant for parents to know. The ingredients in this is baby grade cauliflower, ground rice, skimmed milk, cheddar cheese and cooking water. This is not suitable for children that are lactose intolerant due to the milk and cheddar cheese. This meal also smells very strongly of cheese and I wouldn't say that it is a nice smell although when testing the food it does not taste as bad as it smells and my daughter seems to enjoy it. It is cream in colour and does seem more appetising than some of the other baby foods. I find this size jar is a good size for weaning children and the wide range of flavours is very good. This one does not smell nice but tastes ok and is my daughters favourite. I think that they are very nutritional and are easy to use. They are good for the child and are full of what my child needs. I think that they are a very trusted brand and think that the vegetarian range is a good one for children. The fact that the cooking water is used in the jars is good too because we boil a lot of goodness out of our foods and my child is getting some of the goodness from this water that is used. I like this jar it is a perfect size and a tasty meal.
