Advantages: Convenient, Quick, Easy and Tasty

Disadvantages: Can be costly; take advantage of the special offers

Cow & Gate Baby Balance Yummy Harvest Chicken comes in a glass jar with 200g of content. It is recommended for Stage 2 of the weaning diet and is described as 'mostly mashed'. The quick view of the stage 2 on the label is really handy to see instant if the meals would be suitable for your little one or not. These are only a guideline though.

The ingredients are a little bizarre, mixed veg with chicken, apple juice and parsley. Having said that, I cook a lot at home for my son and often add apples or prunes with his veg to swetten it up and help with the old digestion!

The product itself does not smell the best in my opinion, but it does taste better than it smells and looks. I always try his food before I give it to him. It gives me an idea of what flavour combinations he likes, plus I love food, baby food or not!!

There are good chunks of carrot and potato in here and tiny scraps of chicken in a creamy sauce. It took my son a while to get used to lumps of tis sort of size, but the veg is so soft he doesn't need to chew as such and takes this really well. I have tried giving him jarred meals cold but he much prefers them warmed slightly and the consistency changes just a little when they are warmed through.

These jars are great for convenience. I use them mainly when we are out and about during the day. The price varies depending where they are purchased but I recently got some in Boots on offer at 5 for £2.50, so 50p a jar. I have seen this in my local shop for around 85-89p!

They are stored at ambient temorature sono need to keep them in the fridge unless the product has been opened, in which case it can be stored in the fridge for upto 48 hours, as long as it is not reheated.
