Advantages: none !!
Disadvantages: its expensive, small tub, and really does not work
Cow and Gate Good Night Milk, is one of many C&G formula milks that you can buy, this one however as you can probably guess is meant for the 'Night'.
There are a few Cow & Gate formulas that you can buy which include Number 1, Number 2, Number 3, Follow On Milk etc. All having different purposes though. As you can imagine each formula is the same in the fact it just looks like a powder, but there are differences in the powder which we with our own eyes can't notice.
The Good Night Milk however, you can notice a difference straightaway. The tub it comes in is alot smaller just 100g compared to the larger tubs of formulas which are usually 900g. Despite the small size, the price isn't all that small at £4.98 a tub. Luckily it's not an everyday milk, so you don't go through alot if any at all. It's also a darker yellowy/creamy colour than the other formulas you can buy.
This formula has been made thicker than the usual formulas, aimed to help fill babies for longer and aid with a steady, calm bed time routine.
As we parents know, when sleep deprived you could almost resort to anything just to get that extra 10minutes shuteye from your little one. That is why I bought this, the getting up every hour with my twin boys was really starting to get to me. I wanted to try something new, they were already in a strict routine, and drinking Cow & Gate's hungry baby milk as they were very hungry babies. That's when it sprung to mind (at 2 in the morning half asleep) THICKER MILK is my miracle!
Off to Boots I went, but you can also buy it in supermarkets such as Asda, Sainsburys, Tescos etc and even Savers and Superdrug. I took it home very excited for my usual strict bed time routine with my boys that night. Bathed them, got them into their PJ's and lay them in their cots, exactly the same as what I usually do. Then it came to making bottles! They did have warm bottles at the time so I would boil my kettle and leave it cool a bit, put the required amount of scoops into the water and shake vigorously until all the formula had mixed in well!
One big downfall already though! From just walking from my kitchen downstairs up to my boys bedroom upstairs with their still warm bottles I noticed the formula gradually gathering at the bottom. That's no good surely, they need to drink the formula to fill them up. I shook them again until it had all mixed in again. Another downfall, the formula when made up is thicker than their usual milk and won't go through their teats. They were falling asleep, but I think it was from exhaustion from sucking so hard to get their milk out of their teats. So not filling themselves up like I was expecting, and of course not sleeping. In fact sleeping worse!
It wasn't until the morning though when I was wide awake that I realised there is no miracle cure to get babies to sleep through the night. Babies will sleep through the night when they are ready, it just takes alot of perseverance and sleepless nights for us parents to. But our children are worth it though aren't they?
I really wouldn't waste your money on this, it's £5 which could be spent on something worthwhile for your little one, and don't worry parents your children will sleep through the night eventually (just not with the help of this!)
Summary: a total waste of money
