Advantages: good value, great fun for baby

Disadvantages: look like dog biscuits, contain sugar and salt

I discovered these biscuits at my local chemist, where they cost £1 for a large box. For some reason they are slightly more expensive in the supermarkets, around £1.34. This seems to make them better value than rusks as you get about 35 small biscuits in a pack.
They are suitable for babies from 6 months and my nine month old son hasn't had any trouble eating them. There is a foil bag inside the cardboard box which keeps them fresh, although I find it better to keep them in an airtight jar though. They have a long best before date but they do go stale very quickly if left out in the air.
The biscuits are made with six cereals and are fortified with calcium, iron and vitamins.
The ingredients are:
Cereal flours (wheat, oats, maize, barley, rye, rice)
sugar,
skimmed milk powder,
vegetable oil (palm oil),
raising agents (ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate),
calcium carbonate,
sodium choloride,
flavouring,
dextrose,
iron (ferrous lactate),
vitamin B1,
vitamin B6 and vitamin B2.

This product is soya and egg free and contains no artificial colourings or preservatives. However, it is not gluten free.
As you can see from the list of ingredients, these biscuits are not the healthiest choice for your baby as they contain both sugar and salt, but I don't think they'd do any harm as long as they are only eaten in moderation.
The biscuits look a bit like dog treats but smell gorgeous. I have tasted them [what i put myself through for my research eh?!] and they taste delicious. They are designed to melt in a baby's mouth so that they can't choke on them. This is great for babies but means that they are useless for dunking in my tea. I guess I'll just have to buy my own biscuits.
Another possibility with these biscuits is that they could be crumbed with baby's milk to make a cereal base. You can add pureed fruit purees to make a pudding.

My baby really likes them and they've come in very handy to bribe with whilst we're on long car journey. I think it makes him feel very independent to have a food which he is completely in charge of.They do tend to be quite messy but then most things that babies eat tend to get everywhere [I found some on my pillow this morning!!]. They are easy to get out of the carpet though.
Savoury snack biscuits have just come out from the same company for people who want to cut down on the amount of sugar which their baby/toddler is consuming. These taste like cardboard though so I would recommend just buying bread sticks.
