Advantages: yum yum
Disadvantages: a bit dearer than some
I have two sons who absolutely adore the Petit Filous range of yogurts so when my daughter reached 4 months and began to enjoy yogurts these were my ideal first choice for her, although she likes them they always seem to be quite runny and more ended up all over Mia's clothes rather than in her mouth! So last week I thought I'd try something different and came across 'Baby Danone' well, wow! Produced in France these are the perfect size for little appetites (50g, which you get 6 of for around £1.65) and are a very tasty dessert for young babies from 4 months old. They are made with follow-on-milk and are delicious! (honest!) 'Made with real fruit puree' I expected to find, when I opened the top, that the puree was just mixed in and it would resemble a 'normal' smooth yogurt...wrong!
The 'yogurt' isn't actually a yogurt it's a fromage frais but anyway it is seperated into two segments, the top half being REAL fruit puree, the choices are apple, apple and strawberry or apple and banana, quite a limited choice but delicious all the same! and the bottom part being a 'normal' fromage frais. Now you can either stir the 2 parts together or feed them seperate, my daughter prefers either way and I have never seen a 5 month old cry when you take the pot away before!! bless. The ingredients are :
Fromage Frais (60%) Fruit Puree (34%!!) sugar (hmm) maltodextrin, vegetable oil, gelling agent, pectin, elderberry juice (!) citric acid, vitamins A,C,D,E and iron (very healthy!)
The packaging is quite attractive too! if, like some of the ones we have had, the writing isn't too clear on the top of the lid where it should tell you the flavour (the fruit is almost the same colour in all of them) the pots are colour co-ordinated, pink and white for the apple and strawberry, green and white for the plain apple and yellow and white for the apple and banana, handy to know if your baby prefers one more th
an the other!
Although these aren't one of the cheapest on the market I definitely think they are the best choice for babies or young children (even adults! hehe) unique in the sense they are the only yogurt (I'm off again!) made from follow-on-milk so better and more healtier for your little one. The consistency is neither too runny nor too thick and is extremely easy for even the fussiest eaters to muster, if it is at all possible to be fussy about puddings! lol.
All in all I would say if you don't mind paying the little bit extra these are the perfect choice for a tasty pud!
