Advantages: One of your little ones five a day!
Disadvantages: A little more expensive than others!
I have been weaning my daughter for 10 weeks now and we have had a constant battle with savoury foods, I decided to do a mixture of purees and also baby led weaning. My daughter will happily eat lots of savoury foods but not veg! I tried my own purees as well as several jars, it was only when I came across Ella's kitchen that I actually found something she would eat happily.
I had already tried two others in the range when I came across this particular food broccoli, pears and peas. It cost 99p in Tesco for a 120g. Unlike other baby foods Ella's Kitchen comes in pouches, you simply screw the top off squeeze out the desired amount and then reseal if you wish to keep some and refrigerate it has to be used in 24 hours. The pouches are also ideal for taking with you as they take up little room.
The pouch is for stage 1 weaning and is suitable for 4 months on. You can use this for older babies by mixing it in with lumpier foods such as meat or fish. The pouch contains 100% fruit and veg this pouch contains 78% pears, 14% peas and 8% broccoli. The pouch is organic and it is suitable for vegetarians. You can heat up the contents of the pouch by standing it in a bowl of warm water or you can squeeze a small amount out and heat it in the microwave you only need to heat it for a few seconds and stir well to avoid hot spots. My daughter likes to eat hers cold, especially from the fridge as she is teething and loves cold foods like yogurts etc.
When you squeeze the contents out of the pouch it is a pale green colour. Unlike jars of veg this has a really smooth consistency. My daughter like this as she prefers cold food she hates jars of savoury as they come out like lumpy mash and need to be heated which she dislikes. As with all foods I give my daughter I tried this, I was plesantly suprised this one really did sound disgusting on the pouch but it was really sweet with just a hint of brocolli.
My daughter loves this flavour, initially she would only manage half a pouch but now she will devour the whole pouch no problem, she always smiles when eating this which I take to be a good sign as when she dislikes something she pulls a face and retches!
I would definately recommend this, even though these cost a little bit more they are great if you have problems introducing savoury foods as I did and they are also great for on the go.
Summary: A handy pouch to have!
