Advantages: Healthy, organic, can be served hot or cold, Ruby-Lu seemed to like them.

Disadvantages: Can be expensive if you have a very hungry baby who eats one per meal.

Ella's Kitchen specialise in making organic baby food that contains 100% natural ingredients and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. What you see on the front of the packet is what is inside the packet, so on this occasion the puree is made up of carrot, apple & prunes.

My niece Ruby-Lu is now 5 months old and has been eating solids since 16 weeks when she started on baby rice and worked her way up to this lump free puree at around 18 weeks. One 120g sachet is currently 84p from Tesco stores and this should provide two servings for the average child but please remember that every child is different and my niece would normally have half a pouch but somedays it's more!

The puree comes in an orange pouch with a screw top lid and is quite squidgy to touch. Open the cap, place the required amount of baby food in to a bowl & feed to baby. You can heat this through first by placing it in hot water and warming through as you would a babys bottle but be sure to test it before giving it to your baby. It can also be eaten cold so is a great packet to have in your nappy bag for any days when you are running late or are not able to heat it up.

It is flavoured exactly how it should be with the distinct tastes of carrot, apple & prunes leaping out from the first taste. I sampled a little to check that it was not too hot for Ruby-Lu and though I am not a fan of carrot I was quite surprised at how nice this tasted. It did not get spitten out by Ruby-Lu and she seemed to thoroughly enjoy each mouthful. There was a little mess on her clothing but this was easily washed off on a standard 30 degree wash.

The price of these pouches is quite reasonable and Ruby-Lu usually gets two meals out of them, however, she has been known to eat more if she is still hungry & my sister would keep the remaining bit over (keeps for up to 48 hours) and mix it with a little leftover from a different pouch to keep lots of variety in Ruby-Lu's diet.

This is suitable for stage 1 weaning onwards and does not contain any lumps at all. There is also nothing artificial within this product.

I will be rating this 4/5 as I have one of the other products in this range as I do think they are a tad expensive if you have a hungry baby you will only get one meal out of them.

Summary: A sachet of puree that is perfect for on-the-go Mums & babies.

Thanks :) It's Ruby-Lu and Mary as her middle name, lovely name :D Lovely niece!

Yes, very good but a tad expensive. I'd probably make my own food (although easier said than done while I'm childless).

These are sooo good for when you are on the go. Older toddlers can squeeze them straight into their mouths. Will try this one next time.
