Advantages: One of your babies 5 a day

Disadvantages: It stains everything!

My daughter now eats most things that we do, however when it comes to desserts I don't like to give her anything with too much sugar in so I normally give her half a jar of baby food. I bought several different Hipp jars in Tesco and I just picked random desserts to try and see how we went. The jars cost 65p each or they are 10 jars for £5.

A jar contains 125g or dessert. This jar is aimed at stage 1 weaning for 4 months and over. The ingredients are listed as; Apples, apple juice, blueberries, concentrated apple juice and ground rice. The jar is organic and doesn't contain any preservatives.

Each jar contains 1 portion of fruit.

When you open the jar the main smell is apples. I wasn't too keen on the taste of this, it reminds me of a compote it is really thick and I find it a little rich. My daughter however really likes this, she will easily eat half a jar for her dessert. It has a nice consistency as there is a little rice in the jar to thicken it up. I tend to spoon out half of the jar and then refrigerate the rest where it can be kept for 24 hours.

The only problem with this dessert is the colour, I would definately not recommend taking it out to feed your baby on a day out as it is purple and stains everything it touches. I learnt that the hard way after I couldn't get the stains out of my daughters babygrow.

This is a good dessert though and I would buy it again.

Summary: A nice dessert shame about the colour!
