Advantages: Organic , good variety
Disadvantages: carrot coloured bibs
I've been feeding my daughter Hipp babyfood since we started weaning her , she loves it . It's 100% organic and being a chemist I know what goes into pesticides and chemical fertilisers, and most of the substances they contain aren't pleasant . We all want the best possible start for our liitle ones so I've opted to feed mine organic food . The food products are on average 10p more than no-organic brands , but in all honesty for food without nasties it's well worth the price ( oh dear I sound like a Woolworth ad eek !) The jars start at 57p for the 4 month varieties and increase upwards from there . They have a wide range of food flavours in all the age ranges , they is something for even the pickiest tot ( not sure if pickists a word but you all know that I mean ) . Hipp do the standard jars , they also do the dry food that you mix with milk and they also do fruit juices . They may do more but this is all my local boots and safeway do . By the way Safeway and Boots have regular offers on Hipp babyfood jars like 8 for 6 etc which is better on our bank balance and buying in bulk saves all the time wasting trotting of to Boots every few days for the mrs. Jars: These come in a variety of age ranges and the jars get bigger as the age increases, to fill the ever growing bellies. The jars carry the mother & baby 1995-2000 best baby food gold award , which is also reassuring . The jars come in a wide variety of flavours and there is a good choice for vegetarians as well a meat eaters . The combinations of flavour are excellent and they are a great way of introducing your baby to a variety of flavours . As well as your usual potato , carrot , parsnip they also do pasta and broccoli and penne with tomato and courgette. They also do a wide rande of desserts and the fruit jars are a favourite in our house. Their fist fruit and veg range is great for tots moving on from baby rice . The only thing with t
he jars of food is that they leave dreadful stains on babies clothes and bibs . It does warn you about this on the jars under the 'important' section. We got so fed up of carrot coloured bibs that we bought a plastic apron for our tot to wear( a bit like a school painting apron - 4 pounds in boots ), which is now stained orange but at least one wipe and it's clean. The food also contains corn oil which leaves bowls and spoons really oily which means they have to be washed in really hot water with detergent to get the grease off ( ouch burny burny fingers) . Dry food : I've only ever seen 3 varities of Hipp dry foods and they were all from 4 months , they do pure baby rice , tomato and carrot savoury and a vegtable savoury variety . Unlike other leading dry foods which are boxed with the plastic bag inside (unlike cereal boxes ) . The food is in a resealable stay fresh pouch , which saves time and so there is no dry food at the bottom of the box ! . It just means the food stays freasher for longer . I think the dry food pouchs cost about 1.89 for 150g , the pack has to be used within about 3-4 weeks . Juice : The Hipp juice comes in a few flavours, balck currant + apple and apple + grape is another favourite in our house . The glass bottles contain about 500ml and costs about 1.69 . The juice lats 3-4 days when opened and half the bottle used to get wasted so I found this a bit of a money waster . But it would be fine for the little guzzler varities !! Hipp is slightly more expensive than brands which aren't organic BUT I think paying for pure ingrediants is worth it . One one wants to pump their tots pull of pesticides do they ?
