Kiddylicious smoothie melts are a 1 to 2 serving packet of 100% fruit smoothie bites.
These are very odd, but tasty!. I always try new food before I give it to my daughter, so I can review first hand what these are like.
The smoothie bites are small 5p sized squares of freeze dried fruit smoothie, at least I think it is freeze dried, the texture would make me believe so. This particular one is mango, banana and passion fruit. When I first opened them I was expecting them to be soft, almost jelly like sweets, so I was surprised to find they were hard and dry.
It is a strange texture to get used to, as you eat them they melt in your mouth, and turn into a creamy texture. I must admit they taste just like a smoothie drink. I don't tend to use pre packaged snacks for my daughter, but do by them when out and about as kiddylicious seem to have the best variety. My daughter likes them, not as much as fresh fruit, but they are very convenient for a day out.
Most supermarkets have these stocked in at 4 for £2 mix and match, and they are about 58p each depending on where you get them from. Somewhat expensive for essential 4 snacks, when you think of the amount of fruit and veg you could get for £2. But they are a very convenient snack, and that's what you're paying for.
Would recommend them for parents out and about.
My daughter absolutely loves fruit, and we are always on the look out for new fruit snacks and finger foods for her for when we are out and about or as a treat. She loves to have fresh fruit like fingers of Mango, Melon or Pineapple, and loves Strawberries and Bananas but these can be a bit messy for an on the go snack and this is where snacks like the Smoothie Melts are just perfect as you can just pop a bag in your handbag and they are pretty much mess free.
~What they are~
Kiddylicious Smoothie Melts are small bite sized pieces of freeze dried fruit which melt on the tongue and are suitable from 12 months. They are a 100% fruit and count as 1 of baby's 5 a day. They come in three flavours; Strawberry & Banana, Banana, Mango & Passion fruit and Blackcurrant & Apple.
They are a lovely snack for little ones and are far less messy than most snacks my daughter has which makes them ideal when you are out and about. The Kiddylicious website also suggests that they can be used as toppings for cakes but we have not tried this as they never last long enough in our house!
They look like small squares or chips with an almost honeycomb like appearance and are quite hard to the touch.
The Smoothie Melts are really yummy and so moreish. They have a lovely full flavour and you can detect the individual fruits. Whilst they have a strong flavour they are not overpowering and are really refreshing, tasting more like a sweet than the healthy snack that they are. My daughter loves fruit and would much prefer to have these over chocolate buttons and I have to say I agree. We have tried all three flavours and they are all yummy.
~Price & Availability~
Kiddylicious Smoothie Melts are widely available in supermarkets, chemists and online and cost 59p per 6g pack.
My daughter absolutely loves the Kiddylicious Smoothie Melts, her face lights up when she sees the packet and she never thinks I open it up quick enough. I can see why, they really are yummy and full of flavour and I can never resist stealing a couple although I would really rather like a packet to myself! Whilst these are aimed at children from 12 months they really are a tasty snack for all ages. Highly recommend for little kids and big kids alike.
