Advantages: Great size, great price, ideal for weaning
Disadvantages: None
We don't have an Asda in our town but there is one not that far away that I sometimes frequent, and when I saw the advert for their recent baby and toddler event I made a point of visiting to see if there were any bargains to be got. My almost six month old daughter now has two solid meals a day - breakfast and lunch, and so bowls/dishes etc are very useful. I had already got some from Boots and was about to purchase some Tommee Tippee pots when I saw these Asda Little Angels Disposable Snack Pots, which cost £1 for three.
To be totally honest, there were two reasons I picked these up. Firstly, because they were a good price and I thought they would be ideal for both now, when the quantities that my daughter is eating are not big, and also later, when I could use them for snacks for out and about. Secondly, I also bought these because I liked the the three different colours of the pots ie yellow, red and green and the fact that each came with a matching lid. I did not notice when I purchased these pots that they were actually classed as 'disposable' and that fact would never even have occurred to me since they look and feel pretty sturdy, and not flimsy like other things you would dispose of afte a couple of uses.
On the packaging of these snack pots, it states that they are suitable for babies 6 months +, now my daughter is not quite 6 months, and I bought these almost a month ago. I don't really see any reason for them to not be used before the 6 month mark. It also states on the front as well, that these snack pots are BPA free, ideal for first foods and weaning and microwave and freezer safe. Now, I did notice when I bought them about them being microwave safe, which I wanted as I always heat my daughters purees or breakfast porridge in microwave. According to the packaging, these snack pots have also won awards in the mother and baby awards and they have won gold two years running, which I think is a good recommendation.
I have been using these pots for almost a month now, mainly for my daughters porridge, but sometimes her lunch as well. They are the perfect size for all that she is currently eating in a meal and I tend to pour out her porridge into these pots the night before and place the lid on the box to store the porridge grains until the morning before making her breakfast up, in order to speed things up in the morning. Obviously as my daughter starts to eat more at her meal times, these pots will no longer be used for weaning, but the fact that they can then be used as snack pots when out and about or even around the house is an added advantage. I don't think I would even think about disposing them unless somehow they got damaged or cracked, and to be honest I don't know why you would when you could get so much use out of them. A great product at a great price!
