Advantages: Good value, can be reused, handy for storing meals and snacks, bpa free

Disadvantages: not good value or environmentally friendly if you choose to dispose after one use

I bought these pots quite a few months ago now. We have a variety of little pots in my "baby cupboard" as I call it in the kitchen simply because theyre great for:
Storing and freezing food
Taking snacks out with us
Giving (without lid) to my son to pick snacks out of (he prefers this rather than me dumping it on his highchair tray)

I was just browsing Asda and noticed these, I can't quite remember the price but I believe it was around £1, I popped them in my trolley as they were a good value. I didn't notice at the time but the label actually describes them as disposable pots. I don't really know why! They're advertised as dishwasher safe (why would they need to be if you were going to throw them away?) and they aren't particuarly flimsy. Therefore I have washed and reused these pots and several months later they're still going strong. I think it would be very wasteful to throw these away after one or two uses just to go in a landfill!

They come in a pack of 3- all different colours. They are simple pots, you just snap the lid into place to close and pull it off to open. Aswell as being dishwasher safe they are also safe for the microwave and freezer. So these can be used to freeze meals for your baby or heat & serve (always stir and check temperature on the inside of your wrist!).

The label indictates this pot is suitable for ages 6+ months. I believe this is simply as the guidelines of weaning is 6 months rather than anything else.

It also states that the product is BPA free. I'm going to admit I had no idea what this meant and turned to my trusty search engine for the answer. BPA free means a material/plastic which does not contain Bisphenol A. This is a chemical that can be harmful to babies- there are concerns when a plastic with BPA in is heated e.g. A baby bottle being sterilised- then the baby could ingest small amounts which is harmful. As this product is BPA free there are no dangers in that regard!

A quick google search has shown me Asda no longer stock these, if you however would like to get some you can pick them up for a mere 75p at deal-direct.co.uk.

Summary: Handy pots to KEEP.
