      Well worth a try

All I can say is this milk saved my sanity very early on! For medical reasons we needed to bottle feed our baby from the beginning. Fortunately she took to bottle feeding very well and we never had a problem with her taking a bottle. However it turned out that she was most defiantly a "little and often" baby. Throughout the day this was not so much of a problem, but getting up so frequently in the night was draining. When my little girl was about 4 weeks my health visitor suggested using a hungrier baby milk for her last feed of the day, which was usually about 10pm at night, as this might help her sleep longer. We were already using Aptamil for her normal feeds so we stuck with the same brand. This milk is available in ready made cartons, or as a powder. As we were only going to be using it for the one feed a day we purchased the small ready made cartons for ease of use. The milk itself is quite thick so I found I needed to use a fast flow (number 3) teat in the bottle, otherwise my daughter seemed to wear herself out sucking. She seemed to take to the hungry baby milk with no problems, she took slightly less because it was thicker but still took quite a decent amount. For the first few days we really didn't notice that much of a difference, she still woke up 2 or 3 times in the night for a feed. However we stuck with it and im glad we did. After about a week we started to notice she was going longer between feeds during the night and therefore started taking more from her bottles in the day. It was only small amounts to begin with - an extra 30 minutes between feeds etc, but it slowly kept increasing. She is now 10 weeks old and has been on this hungry baby milk for about 6 weeks. She now takes a good bottle at 10:30/11pm and quite often sleeps through till 6am. Occasionally she will still wake up in the night but we do usually get a good 5-6 hours uninterrupted sleep! We now also use Aptamil Hungrier baby cartons to take out with us in our changing bag, as I find its so much easier to just pour a carton into a pre-sterilised bottle than having to worry about getting hot water to make up a feed. This has made it so much easier to go out and about with her. All in all, switching to this hungrier baby milk was one of the best decisions we made for our daughter and I would highly recommend it.

A great way to help settle the bubbah

My sister is so thankful for this milk. She has a 3 month old little girl, and since day one she has had trouble with feeding. The baby didn't take well to breast feeding, so bottles it had to be, and after trying many different types of formula milks, this one came into being in our house after 3 months. Boy are we glad it did. My niece was started on the usual Aptamil milk, but this made her constipated, so we tried the colic and constipation milk, which did help dramactially, but we just coulnd't get the baby to settle easily and when she did finally go to sleep, she wouldn't stay asleep for more than half hour. It was only last week that the midwife suggested that maybe the milk wasn't satisfying her enough and that we should try a hungrier baby formula. We were worried about her being constipated again, but my sister needed some sleep, so we had to give it a go. She took the first bottle straight down, burped really easily (which is rare!) and slept for a few hours! It would seem this milk really does work and was just what my little niece needed! After a few days the milks still seems to be having a good effect as she is burping easier, sleeping quicker and for longer. If you have a hungry baby who won't sleep very well, maybe give this milk a try as it has worked wonders for my sisters baby, and it may just work for you too, although I would recommend asking your doctor or midwifes advice first, just to ensure this is ok.

      great stuff will use again

All i can say in my personal opinion is thank god for aptamil! When my son was born he had a tongue tie so i had to express and also have formula top ups when in the ward he was given a big brand name which from the offstart did not work for him he ended up with very bad constabation and in a lot of pain which was heartbreaking. After talking to one of the the doctors they recomended aptamil (now the hospital ONLY give out aptamil) this was great from the offset , as he was a hungry monkey he soon was changed on to the extra hungry baby formula he put on stedy and good weight he was happy his constabation ended. i love the packaging as it has an 'easy scoop' to make sure you get the right mesures altho the lid can sometimes be a bit tricky to open also unlike the old style tins it is not waterproff packaging. Also i like the smell of it and it dint seem to leave his bottles all smearey and oily like the other product. After reading quite a lot on the website it seems they do a lot of research into breast feeding and are allways trying to imporve the product. The only 'problem' i have ever had is once i seemed to only get half a pack!! i phoned the compony who were very good and sent me £15 of vouchers :) At over £7 a pot its one of the more expensive milks on the market but in my experiance one of the best ,i have spoke to many mums about this and they agree, also i am happy to recomend this to family and friends In all really like this milk and if i ever have another baby ( not if the husband has anything to do with it) i will use it again Off course at the end of the day we are told breast milk is better for babies and it also says this on the packet :)

An easy to mix baby formula can be used as an addition to breast milk

This formula is currently being used in addition to breast feeding. I feel that this is an ideal situation rather than giving up breast feeding altogether this formula is being used as a supplement. There is a great deal of research to suggest that breast milk is by far the best to feed your baby however it isn't always possible. Therefore Milupa Aptamil is a great alternative to the breast or as a supplement to it. I have no hesitation to recommend this milk, our baby moves effortlessly from breast milk to Aptamil. It includes IMMUNOFORTIS® which claims to contain friendly bacteria to help with the baby's digestive system. It mixes well even in cold pre boiled water, no lumps that you can get with some other baby formulas. Another handy advantage is that this milk also comes in readymade cartons for when you are out and about. All in all I think that this milk is the best on the market, granted it may cost a little more but I believe it is well worth the extra cost for the wellbeing of your child.

A fantastic complement to a great formula!

With most parents I think one of the things that hits you most when they arrive is sleep deprivation, I can certainly see why they use it as a form of torture!! Unfortunately I was unable to breast feed with either of my children and had I been able to I would have done as I do believe breast is best. So I chose to use Aptamil with both of my children as I thought it was the best alternative to breast feeding and although they thrived and their weight gain was excellent I just couldn't get them to go through the night. So I decided to give the Extra Infant Milk for Hungrier Babies a go. With my second child who is currently 19 weeks I am giving it to her for her last two bottles of the day 7pm and 10.30pm. It does seem to have made a difference as she now doesn't have her next bottle until 6am although she does start to stir anytime from 04.30 as she's starting to get peckish. This is however a massive difference from the 01.00 which is was before we tried the hungry baby milk. The milk contains an ingredient that makes the milk digest slower giving the baby the feeling that its still full allowing them and you to sleep longer! The only down side would have to be constipation which both of my children have suffered once on hungry baby. In order to combat this I add an extra 1/4 ounce of water to each bottle which I find helps and in desperate occasions I have added a few drops of freshly squeezed orange juice to their water which has an amazing effect. The hungry baby comes in the 900ml powder box and has the same handy scoop leveller which is in the first baby milk . It is also available in the 200ml ready mixed cartons. Ultimately I think hungry baby is designed to help your child sleep through the night but to also put off early weaning. I have started weaning my daughter but waited until she was 18 weeks old. The guidelines are 4-6 months but my health visitor told me that that was because if they said 4 months people would start weaning at 3 months etc. I have certainly found that some baby rice at dinner time helps her to go even longer through the night. Aptamil Extra Infant Milk for Hungrier babies contains the same patented Immunofortis which Milupa say make it the closest thing to breast milk, its the same price as the First Baby Milk at £7.91 so I am more than happy that its the right choice for my children.

          easy transition for hungry babies

This formula was recommended to us by our Health Visitor as its helpful to stop early weaning. Nowadays weaning is recommended at 6 months rather than 4 as it used to be when I was a little one. Aptamil is usually more expensive than most other infant formula, but only by a pound or so per tub. We used the 'extra hungry' as my son was terrible for waking at night times, he would often wake for feeds every 2 or 3 hours when he should really have been sleeping through the night. This milk is designed to satisfy hungry babies without them putting on excessive weight or starting solids. These tubs come with a built in scoop leveller which is wonderful as you don't have to stagger around trying to find a sterilised knife to level off the formula powder in the middle of the night, also saves on any mess too. If you contact the Aptamil helpline on the side of the box, you will speak to a qualified midwife or health visitor, they will give you lots of information and also send you a joining pack, which for us contained £5 voucher a cuddly polar bear.
