Advantages: no additives, easy baby finger foods

Disadvantages: sticky and no re-sealable bag

I bought these rice cakes out of desperation one day - my little girl was 6 months old and seemed to be constantly chewing. I thought she might be ready for finger foods but wanted to give her something easy to grasp, healthy and easy to eat.

I was a little concerned that the apple would be too sweet and full of sugar but from reading the ingredients on the packet they don't seem too high in the nasty stuff!

I felt confident that the Organix range was good for her as they make foods made from organic, wholesome ingredients. I was already a fan of their jars of baby food and pots of organic fruit so felt that the rice cakes would at the very least be free of additives and made from quality ingredients.

The rice cakes are a great size for her - really easy to grasp and go reassuringly soft once they've been sucked for a bit. Even at 8 months my daughter still doesn't have any teeth but is able to eat these ricecakes really easily - she seems to suck them to death! They dissolve and go soggy so the chance of choking is greatly reduced (although I still don't give them to her without supervision) and she ends up with little bits of puffed rice stuck all over her once she's had one for a while!

I suppose that is one of the drawbacks with these ricecakes - they do get very sticky once they've been sucked and my daughter ends up with little bits of rice stuck to her clothes, neck, face - hair! Not great but she's so proud of herself being able to eat them by herself (how much actually gets into her stomach I'm not sure!)

I'm a big fan of these - I just wish they could provide a re-sealable bag as the bag they're in is like a crisp packet (which babies love the sound of by the way) but is a bit of a nightmare to keep fresh unless they're eaten in one go. On that point however, I have been known to finish off the bag myself - they're pretty low in calories and have a lot less additives than snack o jacks.

Summary: great product but a re-sealable bag would be great
