After comparing a few different brands of baby rice in the supermarket when we decided to start weaning our daughter at 18 weeks old I was drawn to this one as it was Wholegrain and Organic.

I think I paid about £1.14 for the box from Tesco.

The baby rice has added vitamin B1 but other than this has nothing added extra, which as good to know when you are feeding a baby then if they have a bad reaction you can quickly narrow it down to what caused it.

It is easy to mix up and the pack gives you good instructions - I always weigh it as I am never sure what they mean when they say spoonfuls. So you mix 12g of the powdered baby rice with 3oz of baby's usual milk. I found this made a nice thick gloop that stayed on the spoon well but was also easy for baby to swallow.

The first time I gave my daughter the baby rice she loved it! I think it was definatly a good introduction to solid food for her.

As we started weaning relatively early she only had baby rice once or twice a day for about 2 weeks but we still only got through less than a packet. Once she started on fruit and veg purees I would use a bit to make the food a better consistancy for her and when she was starting to get an increased appetite I would bulk out her purees with some baby rice as well.

I think this is a good introduction for baby's first food.
