Advantages: healthy organic flapjack

Disadvantages: no actual raspberries or apple pieces in the bar

This is a snack we have recently tried with my son. We decided to give these ago due to them being a high carbohydrate snack because though my son is great at eating his fruit vegetable and protein he only really likes bread and cereal as a carbohydrate. So as he has liked other things in the Organix range I was hopefully that he would like this oaty snack.

About Organix
************

"Organix was founded in 1992 by Lizzie Vann. Her own experience of poor health in childhood left Lizzie with a passion for changing the children's food industry so that parents have more choice to give their children high quality, nutritious, organic food."

All their packaging has the "No Junk Promise" which they see as a "promise to you that our foods are always safe, pure and nutritious"
Which means that there is no added sugar; no artificial colourings; no MSG or added flavourings and no hydrogenated fat. All the ingredients are organically grown with reduced levels of salt fat and sugar.

What do you get?
********************

Each box contains six individually wrapped cereals The Box is mainly bright pink and green cardboard box. The wording is in blue and white and there is a picture of the cereal bar and the foil packaging on the front of the box. The box is fully recyclable

The packaging for the individual cereal bars is very appealing to babies/toddlers or my son at least as they are foil packed, with metallic and shiny colours. All to bring out the inner magpie in your child. Once the foil packaging is empty it makes a great crackling sound. There are pictures of red apples and raspberries on the front of the foil packaging.

***************
Organic Oats (45%), Organic Raisins (33%), Organic Sunflower Oil (10%), Organic Coconut (5%), Organic Apple Juice Concentrate (4%), Organic Raspberry Juice Concentrate (3%)

The taste test and our experience
**********************************
Well my son loved the foil wrapping and the fact that I gave him the snack out of it he seemed to think this made him a big boy. He bit into the bar and you could clearly see the bite mark he left as he took his first bite. No spitting it out and examining it as happened with things he is unsure off. The texture of the bar is very moist and not too crumbly though this bar is raspberry and apple don't expect too see any of them in the actual bar as they are just added in fruit juice in place of I would say both sugar and syrup in a traditional flapjack. My son didn't eat the full bar but at 17 months old he doesn't often finish off a full snack bar or packet of crisps. The bite he left for me to taste was lovely and soft the oats weren't brittle at all and break down very easily in the mouth. You can taste both the raspberries and the apples in this which complements the raisins in there too.
The bar its self is a brownie pink color and smells very sweet and fruity. Given how well these bars went down I am happy to give these to my son again and will have to make sure my hubby doesn't pinch them for his lunch box! My only criticism is I would of liked to see a few bits of raspberry or apple in the bar too.

There are four other flavors to choose from in the range: Apple and Orange; Blackcurrant; Carrot Cake and Cocoa and Raisin

Where from
****************
You can buy these at Tescos Sainsbury's and Asda for £2.23 a box which isn't bad for a healthy organic snack in my book

Summary: a tasty flapjack treat

I love the Organix range but ds isn't keen on the bars for some reason - loves the biscuits though!
