“ Brand: Organix / Age: 12 months „
I discovered the Organix range when my son was a baby and 5 years on their items still feature regularly in his and his sister's diet.
Both my children love raisins and other dried fruit so to find a combination of fruits which are organic and additive free is great! They love these and the alternative which comes with dried apricots.
They come in a small cardboard box which is handy as I can pop a few packs in my handbag for trips out or snack emergencies and its resealable so they don't have to eat the whole packet in one go. It's quite a large box so I usually find that they can either share one when we are out and about it they'll start but not finish a box in one go.
I haven't tried them myself but my kids love them so that's a good enough for me to give them a positive review and recommend them fir healthier snacking!! As with most products you just have to be careful that they don't overdo how much they eat as even natural fruit products aren't great for their teeth!!
Everyone in our house loves dried fruit, so I thought the combination of raisins and apple would be just the sort of thing that would go down well with us. I normally buy the organix brand raisins, so I thought I knew what to expect - I was wrong. The box is twice the size of the raisins box. Now, this isn't a problem for my ten year old son or me, and he was very happy to have a box in his lunchbox. However, the box was basically twice as much as my one year old wanted to eat. The advantage, to me, of having the boxes is that they become single servings - if it's not a single serving, I'd rather just have a big bag.
Secondly, the fruit. The raisins were large and juicy, but the apple was tiny and seemd like foam to me, the texture was strange (more like the foam sweets you can get) and the flavour nonexistent.
I was very disappointed, and won't be buying these again, I'll stick to the plain raisins.
I'll admit I did actually buy this for my nephew - but I kept a box to try myself.
I love raisins, and although I'm not usually so keen on dried apple - I do enjoy a good apple!
They came in a multi-pack of six for around £1.50 I believe, which works out at around 25p per 23g box which is definitely enough for a nice snack.
They pride themselves on being organic, and the box assures me they are '100% Fruit' with 'No Additives'. One box is also one portion of fruit, which is nice to know especially if you have picky children who aren't so keen on fruit!
I tried a few of the raisins first - these are really nice, they were quite juicy and not dry at all like some other brand I've tried. They were nice and sweet, but not sickly or sticky which is always a bonus. I also found no little 'stalks' like in some cheaper brands, so they were very enjoyable.
The apple on the other hand I didn't enjoy. I found it to be rather dry, bland and tasteless. They were chopped into tiny pieces which were also sticky. I really didn't like these, and they all ended up in the bin.
I don't think I'd buy these for myself, I'd rather stick to a nice box of just raisins - dried chopped apples aren't for me! I did give a few to a friend to try who said she loved dried apple usually, but she agreed that these were just too tasteless.
Overall a nice product though and would be a nice healthy snack for a kids lunchbox too.
