Advantages: Organic
Disadvantages: None
I bought this for my little darling boy to have for his breakfast. I like te Organix range because they have a 'No junk promise' which means that it's all organically grown and it has no added bits of rubbish that isn't meant to be there.
What is it?
This is a banana porridge which comes in the form of a dry powder. The box recommends that it's suitable for children as young as four months and it's made up of wholegin riceflakes, banana flakes and oat flakes. There is 120g in the box and I paid just under £2 for it at my local Sainsbury's.
Instructions.
The box recommends that you add two level tablespoons of the cereal to six level tablespoons of either your baby's milk or lukewarm water, stirring as you pour.
I never follow these instructions and I usually pour a bit of water into a bowl and add the cereal until I get the right amount and consistency. If I want it thicker then I add more powder. Simple as that!
The look.
When I opened the cardboard box there was a silver bag inside which contained the powder. I had to cut off a corner of the bag with a pair of scissors before I could pour some into a bowl. The powder itself is very fine and is cream in colour. It reminds of the fine bits of wood that you see on the floor after you've used a saw. Thankfully it doesn't taste like that though! I suppose it's very much like Ready Brek although I would say it's much finer.
The smell.
When I opened the bag I must admit I was expecting a really strong banana smell but I didn't get that at all. There wasn't really any smell apart from a bland whiff of oats; a bit like the smell you get when you open a box of porridge.
The taste.
I was expecting a really bland cereal because of the way it smelt but I was surprised. The banana was strong but not overwhelming and it was really sweet. I would have eaten a bowl myself because I thought it was lovely.
What does Elijah think?
Elijah goes mad for this cereal and I can't get the spoon in his mouth quick enough. He looks like he really enjoys every mouthful and when he's done he whimpers for more. He copes really well with the consistency and never urges because its a nice smooth mixture for his age. I think if he could talk then he'd give it five stars.
All in all a nice starter for a baby who has just started experimenting with foods and from a mum's point of view it's very quick and easy to prepare.
Summary: A nice easy breakfast.
