With my first son I tried to breastfeed but after about 10 weeks I gave up. So when it came to choosing a baby formula to use instead I reached for SMA. The main reason I did this was the well known brand name. Even though I hadn't had much contact with children before, I knew of SMA and I knew what the packaging looked like. It stood out on ... Should you be concerned when a formula milk provided has its own colic helpline number? I think the answer is yes. I bought SMA before my daughter was born in readiness, when she was about 2 weeks old she started with SMA formula milk, the nights became nightmares and she constantly cried, eventually the health visitor said it was ... SMA Gold was the milk we chose to give all our daughters. Our first 2 daughters were fine on SMA Gold, although they were very hungry babies, so by about 8 weeks old, it was not filling enough for them and they had to be moved up to SMA white, which is for hungrier babies. Our 3rd daughterm however, suffered with terrible constipation ... Read the complete review

When I struggled to breast-feed in hospital as my baby was tongue-tied, then I decided it made sense to bottle feed. When the midwife asked me which formula milk I wished to use, SMA was the only one I had heard of. I knew it had a good reputation and I still maintain that it's the best formula out there. Some people choose to use formula, and others try to breastfeed and are failed by those who should help them. Because formula use is so widespread, it has altered expectations around infant feeding and care which make its use more likely.
