Advantages: Next best thing to breast milk

Disadvantages: Bit smelly

I never really gave a thought to which milk to use after my son was born as I was going to breast feed, but when they put me on tablets that didn't allow breast feeding I was given the choice of this, SMA Gold or Cow and Gate. My mum was in the room and she said she used this so we opted for this. I never had a problem with it at all [and will be using it again for the new baby!!]. I don't like the smell myself and when and if it reappears from the baby it does have a nasty whiff to it. However my son thrived well on it. He wasn't constipated but was really pushing his poo out and it was quite hard and I was concerned that he was in pain, but the health visitor said to try cooled boiled water as well to drink which eased this.
You can get this formula almost anywhere and it is one of the cheaper brands, at the moment about £7.20 and lasted my son about 1 a week.
